Blizzard Ditching StarCraft 2 Actors: StarCraft Fans Petition Agains It

It was previously reported that a couple of agencies informed StarCraftWire.net that the voice acting role of Jim Raynor and Kerrigan the Queen of Blades are now up for grabs. The original actors as well as the ones used for the WWI and BlizzCon gameplays are out, and they are looking for new ones.

Fans have rallied to show their support for the original actors, which seems to be well loved by the community.

It's never very nice when they change actors. Like it films. You want the same actor playing the same character each time!

True, but its as with most changes: it usually takes a little getting used to.

The thing is, Jimmy's voice is so specifically charismatic. I just would hate for it to be ditched.

Where these actors in the original Starcraft or only in the new Starcraft 2 (i.e. the released videos, which I haven't seen much of)?

These two were the actors from the game. Glynis Talken did play Kerrigan in the cinematics we have seen, but some random guy played Raynor. Now they have scrapped both the old ones and the new ones, meaning we might not hear Kerrigan as we remember her, OR Jimmy boy.

Gut feeling says no: don't try to fix something thats not broken. But who is to say the new blood (if there is going to be any for these 2 roles) isn't able to surpass the originals?

Ye its never good when original actors get changed and it just proves the fans weren't too happy about it.

I think Blizz should propably just keep the original actors, if the fan community is so attached to previous ones voice-overs... =)

Whats wrong with a new round of auditions. If the originals truly are best suited for the role and they participate they will win.

Let's hope the community can do enough to get the original actors back in the roles

I think people are making too much of a fuss about this...

I have to agree with most of you. Why change the original voice actors? If they did such a good job and people can identify themselves with the voices...well, I say keep 'em.

If they do chose new blood (again) then I hope they do a good job. =)

It really kinda sucks to see them go :( Glynnis Talken IS Sarah Kerrigan, no one will EVER replace her, simple as that. And as for Jimmy, Jimmy without Jimmy just isn't Jimmy.

If fans are familiar with the voices, even attached to them why change them? It's like changing the voice of Cain in D2. The voice IS that character and it's impressed the personality of the character on the player.

Agreed. I don't know about anyone else, but I know I personally got very attached to the character's in Starcraft, like one's favorite movie or book, even more so. To have their voices, their souls, change....

I guess it is better to have the original voice actors, but it doesn't really matter to me. I haven't played the campaign enough to really get attached to the characters, so. As long as Blizzard delivers a quality game, I'm happy! ^^

No way... ;-; I loved their work in the past games. (sigh)
Why is Blizzard so finicky over bringing back longtime friends of ours?
Jeez.. they know their talent brings more to the game. Take that away, and it feels empty.

15 - Okay...
Are they trying to go with cheaper actors, or did they ask for too much money?

Either way, I bet money's involved.

Judgeing their statements the truth is quite the opposite. They seem to think that now they have tons of money they can hire better actors. These actors are supposed to give kerrigan and Jim the voices they should have had back then...

The original actors were hired because lack of money, now they are looking at higher profiles. Many fans just want the old voices though...

I agree. Can you imagine if they changed the guy that says "DOUBLE KILL" in Halo 3? Complete chaos.
