G4: Obama And Palin Coming to Mercenaries 2 As Playable Characters

From G4: "Turns out that the rumors were true! Barack Obama and Sarah Palin are indeed coming to Mercenaries 2: World in Flames as playable characters in an upcoming update.

X-Play landed the exclusive story and snagged some extra footage for us. We just had to set it to Hail to the Chief.

Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb revealed the news just moments ago on X-Play in the Gaming Update.

Tom Stratton of Pandemic Studios gave the following statement to X-Play:

"Mercenaries 2 is a game seemingly ripped straight out of today's headlines and fueled with the same type of over-the-top action found in the best summer blockbuster films. It only makes sense we inject the game with a spin on current affairs. The timing was too good to let pass."

When I played the demo for M2 it felt completely uninspiring, but if I can burn Venezuela as Palin or Obama... damn I just might compromise my position of this being a crappy game and buy it O_o

Well, here I was hoping politics would stay out of my games and this comes smacking me in the face. This better be fake. All I have to say. It's scary how everyone has been pushing for Palin in a video game, though... isn't it? Think back a few months ago when all the sites were running look alike stories.

I wish/hope this isn't true... but what can ya do? I was hoping maybe we could play as some decent characters in the game. Also, they need to make another White Guy to be status quo and equal now. Just saying... We've got 2 girls, 2 black dudes and 1 white guy???? Racist and sexist!!!!!! /sarcsasm.

I doubt this is real. And by that I mean the video itself is real but we will never see this type of content released in this game, at least I hope not. I mean just imagine the negative publicity both (in my mind) idiots would get from this; if either even accepted to do such a thing. And at a time where EA is handing out pink slips to 600+ employees...eh, I wouldn't do something this controversial.

Plus if you listen in to Palin's character when she first hijacks the chopper you hear a Mattias sound effect when she lifts herself in, its not a female voice.
