First Far Cry 2 Reviews are Glowing (94%, 9/10, 9/10)

Most people would call the period we are about to be entering the holiday season. Us gamers refer to it as a different name: FPS season. And one of the plenty of shooters releasing this fall that hopes to stand out from the pack is Far Cry 2. We already know the game is gorgeous but will it capture our hearts with its gameplay? The first three reviewers of the game seem to think so.

The reviews are around the same as those for Crysis. I don't see your point. You buy good games because they're good. Not because of who developed them.

i was commenting on the description of the article, it said farcry 2 was made by the same developers as crysis, which is obviously wrong. now it has been corrected. i am actually looking forward to this game quite a bit. its too bad it had to go multiplatform tho, pc would have been better. but i understand their reasoning. its all about $$ now.

Knowing the PC version is superior I do not even want to rent this game. It's not like we haven't played a great shooter in years. However I played a great sci fi shooter in years which is why i'm buying Resistance 2 and also knowing that there is a big community. When you jump into the console version of Far Cry 2 the community is going to be new like COD4 was and also Battlefield. COD4 and Battlefield were two great games, but had no longivtity for me.

Should ask that same question but instead of far cry replace it with final fantasy. Not that it is a bad thing, it is just using a name that has positive connotations associated with it to help create and improve a franchise.

The console versions seem to be scoring well but I'm sure it's a much gimped game just like the last Farcry console version. The main reason why I will rent this one. Still however, looks to be the biggest FPS on consoles this holiday. Still need to see how World at War and Resistance 2 does.

you've never given resistance a "chance" before.....why would anyone expect you to give it a fair look now?

do agree on farcry though - first one had issues. i'd like to think they got them worked out. i'll rent before i buy.

Quality games are starting to show up. For the last few months games kept falling short of the bar. It seemed there were only a few quality titles since summer time after alot of hype. Now the cream is starting to rise to the top. Far Cry 2, Dead Space, LBP are all getting good grades. I'm sure Fallout 3, Fable 2 and a handful of others will be right up there.

Procedural story telling = buy. There was a question of which multiplat I was going to buy this season and now it's answered. Unless there is something seriously defective with the PS3 version, this is my multiplat. Mirror's edge will have to pull something awesome out of it's a$$.
