Yeah i agree with you slapsta a Aug that allowed you to recover health over a short period of time would have been cool. The thing is would have been finding an alternative augmentation for health regeneration or a different type of health regeneration. Also i don't like the idea of canning the shadow stealth mechanic of the game. But from what i heard Eidios is also going to release a new thief which would make sense of taking out shadow stealth .

Still i'm pumped to play the sequel to the best game i ever played in the original Deus Ex. I just hope they don't dumb down DE3 to make it comparable to other FPS's because DE is MUCH better other FPS's. Also the last name Jensen sounds familiar in Deus Ex. I can't put my finger on it though. Maybe it was the last names of one of the higher ups of UNATCO.

Hehe perfect timing as I'm currently replaying DE The Conspiracy on PS2. That screenshot looks incredible. The cover sytem and auto health systems sound sketchy though. I hope they look towards the original game for inspiration and steer clear of Invisible War.

I never played the second game and from what i hear it's good to stay away from it if i liked the original. I'm not sold on using these modern "standard" mechanics for a game like Deus Ex.

If you loved the original you will ****ing HATE Invisible War. Or atleast thats what I felt towards it. But yeah the reason I and so many other people loved Deus Ex was because it broke away from the standard shooter mold. If they bring back the skill system, bring back the old inventory system, and ditch the universal ammo I'll be happy.

Yeah it's the same reason i love Deus Ex. It took what i thought FPS's were and sh*tted on that concept of just toting a big gun and having some halfassed plot. It was much deeper than any game i ever played and did o many news things and everything blended perfectly.

From the article they say they'll keep the Augmentations and hopefully they'll keep the skills as well. I loved hacking into sentries and computers and to a lesser extent lock picking. I hope the game ends up with at least 3 endings with no clear cut "good or evil" outcome. It's what i absolutely loved about the first games endings. There wasn't no outright good or evil ending of how you played. Only what you saw fit based on your personal ideals.

Yeah the first game was near flawless. It's a shame that alot of the these top 20 fps's list don't have it ranked in the top 5 or at least top 10. I played Half-Life 2 and beat that as well and i honestly don't see what made people jizz on themselves from playing it. Specially when comparing it to Deus Ex.

Another classic PC RPG turned into a modern FPS with RPG elements. What's next. Torment?

So sad Dark General, so sad.

Xi, the second one was a FPS with RPG elements but the original Deus was a true RPG.

LOL, good one Charlie2688 on innovative weapons and online. But seriously, thank God that at least BioWare didn't name Dragon Age something else like Baldur's Gate 3 because the 3rd and the last of classic RPGs would have been gone. Thankfully Arcanium was never a huge hit sales wise so it might be left alone :D

7.5 - hmm,
well, guys, I guess we should just drop the current combat system and introduce the original games system seeing as it was so fun and intuitive, but seriously guys, I don't care about the combat, I care about the story, the atmosphere, the decisions, problem solving and getting sweet augs. But yeah, regeneritive health is not cool, unless, it slowly regenerates and you can still use medkits, but in the first game there was an aug that regenerated your health anyway, but guys, c'mon the way they described shanghai was wicked, I love cyberpunk and this game is being made in montreal, which imo is one of the best dev houses on the planet

Deus Ex is likely my favourite game of all time... Even if this prequel doesn't reach that level, I hope it will be a damn good game !

usually don't like prequels that much, but I guess that it was a bit too difficult to create a sequel to Invisible War (those who have played the game should understand)

I never played the second one. The first was fun, but the enemy AI was horrible.

Well, at least by being a sequel they don't have to worry much about integrating the story of DX2. Since so many people were offended by that game, thats at least a good thing.

But yeah, i'm a little scared now. So we have a prequel to Deus Ex, and the new main character is going to have augs that sound way cooler than anything JC or Paul had, two of the first nano-augs. Does that mean the main character is gonna be a mech-aug, and look like robocop? I suppose that would be a minor gripe, so long as the game plays well.

I'm really scared by the cover system and auto health regen though. That is the same kind of crap that turned awesome games like the original Rainbow Six into sub-par generic mass market crap. I'll admit i have fun playing CoD4 multiplayer, but as a single player game it was crap, and thats all i care about with DE3, the single player experience. Funny thing though is i could see that health regen actually working well in the Deus Ex setting, if it was an aug that you could use.

Frankly, it doesn't matter. I'm buying the game regardless, because i'm hoping it will be at least half as great as the first. If it ends up being another DX2:IW, i'm okay with that too, because at least then its still better than 95% of the other crap out there.

"Deus Ex 3's vision of the future sees holographic screens flicker atop ferries moving back and forth in front of the Shanghai skyline, now split into two layers with the rich on the top and the poor in perpetual twilight below,"

BLADERUNNER THEN?

Isn't blade runner a GOOD place to draw inspiration from, though?
