stupid M$ is trying to charge people for the maps but valve wants it free. same thing happened with gears maps. eventually microsoft made them charge people for maps

This is exactly why I love valve! Free updates, free new weapons, free maps, easy map creation and sharing. EA, MS, and alot of companies should take a look at their strategy... I buy valve stuff within a heart beat.

Though I have both PS3 and 360, I don't have the orange box for consoles... do they have the updates us PC gamers are getting?

The console versions of the Orange box got a few updates and then it stopped. Valve is aruging with MS how releasing the updates for free and the new achievements, Valve is also too busy to release the updates for the PS3 version and you got EA who can't be asked to do anything. In the end, if you want to play Valve's products then get them on the PC where they are the best version.
