Alan Wake Development Hasn't Gone Smoothly (But Is Still Going)

Kotaku reports: "Alan Wake! We miss you! You showed your face, got us all excited, then buggered off and haven't been seen for months. That kind of business normally leads to speculation that a game's been canned. Speculation Remedy want to dispel immediately, with a post on the game's official boards saying:"

Agreed, they can take their time. Just make it go all smooth and it's all good.

1.2 - not exactly

I think we will find out soon enough that a game in development for too long will only hurt the final product (as in too many expectations and not living up to the hype), in most cases this has been proven true. Take Too Human for example.

Well, 4 years definitely isn't too long for a game studio consisting of only 30 devs. Usually small and gifted team with lots of development time leads to great game. The smaller the team, the easier it is to manage a project.

I'm really interested in this game. Its going to be tough to live up to expectations at this stage though.

Not really. Look at Killzone 2. People we're laughing at that game for years and look at it now. I'm hyped for Alan Wake too and can't wait to play it on my PC. It will probably be out next fall. It just seems like the perfect holiday horror title.

I've said this all along. Alan Wake has never been gone, they have had a media blackout on purpose.

4.1 - maybe they've had a media blackout but
the remedy post says the reason the game isn't out yet is development hasn't gone smoothly. it'll be interesting to see how good this game is at release.

I'm just stating what a Remedy representative told me at the Nordic games conference. I hope they show something soon, and that it looks good.

11 - Eii saa peittää - yeah, it's an actual language
The team consists of about 30 developers so it's bound to take time.

Remember the development of Max Payne? Or does your attention span reach no further than being outraged at headlines?

Excalty, the Alan Wake dev team is only 30 people and working on a game like this is going to take a long time so just wait.

Well it's simple, it's the only thing I've ever learned in finnish that's not curse word.

Eii saa peittää - do not cover (it's printed on most of our radiators here in Sweden) =P
