Didn't this game launch with sales of 700,000?

I know drop-offs were expected, but Funcom better get that huge update out if they ever want to compete with WOW...

don't mean to be rude, but i think you're living in a dream world, Warhammer Online looks much better than AoC and we all know that not even that will touch WoW. I hope Mythic and Funcom didn't invest too much cash into their games because I dont dont think they will make it back, sadly.

2.2 - WoW has skewed many opinions
You don't need that many subscribers to make your money back.

They're still doing phenomenal compared to almost every MMO except WoW.

The biggest test is how many people stay subscribed after 2 months. They just need enough time to remove memory leaks/major bugs and do light balancing. Those are the two biggest things that hurt an mmo launch. I quit after my first month of WoW because of it and didn't go back for almost a year.

How can they? Wrath of the Lich King is looming and it's expected to once again crush MMOs everywhere.

4 - I play warcraft but really.
I got into the game cuz of my friend and I don't consider it to be the end all be all of MMO Gaming. Wow is just a really noob friendly MMO with pretty good endgame content.
I consider EQ2 to be the best MMO right now but I know most people will not believe that anyways. They figure that because a game sells better that means it has to be better, but at the same time they don't apply that logic when it comes to the wii selling better than everything else out there.

4.1 - WoW is one of the least fun MMOs I've played
It's just addicting, and like you said "noob friendly".

The most fun I've had in that game is jumping off tall things, which is a damn shame.

Boast really ? The game is already crashing hard and hemorraging players .

What's really awesome is how the press got conned into giving the game favorable reviews . But of course 90% of them dont bother trying a mmo more than the first levels before giving a reviews . If they did they'd caught the many designs and technical issues the game still faces .

So nowadays you can 'boast' if your game that had more than a million PREORDERS only has less than 500000 subscribers left. In other words more than HALF of your customers ran away ...

Lets take some key spin parts int o consideration:

"The company stated, "To maximize the average longevity of subscription Funcom will continue to expand, improve and adjust the product, as well as address key issues in the game on a running basis."

They failed to expand as promised with the vanished content update on June 30th that never surfaced. If they claim to continue that means they will continue to fail to provide ANY content for endgame players. The so called Key issues are:
- zero content for lvl 80 players
- broken PVP mechanics
- half of the classes broken by design
- half of the feats (skilltrees) nonworking
- half of the personal attributes nonworking (stamina, running speed etc)
- miserable trade system
- useless banksystem containing only a minimal space that has to be shared with auction items as they block bankspace
- totally broken tradeskill system needing a horrid amount of different items to use with close to zero space to store that items (shared single bankspace, see above)
- patches that by now ALWAYS have broken more things then they fixed, repeatedly destroying timers for quests making them defunct

"[The] average playtime per player has been lower than expected. Potential influencing factors may be the high average age of subscribers (29 years), aspects of the game, summer holidays, etc."

How about this potential influence: your game is CRAP at the moment.

i also quit it after some month. its just plain horrible. i really wanted to love it. becouse im really tired of wow. but the bugs are do abundant and the content just missing everywhere, that i had to quit. my char had problems killing mobs with the same lvl and i had some of the same equip with lvl 50 as i had with lvl 10. never going back there. Warhammer looks way more promising now. and my pc can handle it better.

The worst thing about Conan is the total lack of direction regarding class balancing and the end game PvP causing the player base to start leaving en mass. I haven't seen so many people leaving a MMO after the first month since Vanguard....and they're still not done bleeding players.

Conan is the only MMO I have ever bought that I quit after the initial free month.

Heck...I even paid for a month or 2 of Vanguard once it came out.

Conan was a HUGE disappointment, it was suppost to be my placeholder till Warhammer. O well, I have been in Closed Beta of Warhammer and its awsome.
