World of Warcraft Down - Hacked?

Servers/Realms throughout World of Warcraft experienced technical difficulties today and strange messages such as "Game ends in 2 minutes" started appearing.

UPDATE: The outage is also on top of the seemingly unrelated trouble with the "Vindication Battlegroups" as servers on the "Misery Battlegroup" are also down.

I should've added something, but instead some angry wow nerds (yes, I am a nerd, too, and formerly was a "wow nerd") did a quick disagree because I took pleasure in their inability to waste more of their lives.

I would have been pissed as hell if I still played.

Trust me, I wasted 150 real life days in-game.

You could chalk up maybe 24 hours of that to afk time. No one should ever play a game that much.

You start to lose your grip on reality. There's no end in WoW, either. You just try to get as much crap as possible to become as overpowered as possible and it takes a long goddamn time with scheduled raids throughout the week and at least 30 other people who want to do the same thing.

I wish that WoW would have been hacked to death when I was playing. It's a godsend when the game is down and you have no other option but to do something else.

It`s also a god send to have self control. A lot of mature well to do people can deal with a game like wow and never let it take over their life, some don`t. Like jelly beans.

Finally someone else sees the irony in a comment like this. Every time some poster on a video game website looks down their nose at other gamers and calls them nerds you have to laugh.

Has basically dropped out of High School, gained 75 pounds and lost a good majority of his friends and family relationships all because of Warcraft. It's very sad...

blame the parents, not the game. I`m guessing you are on the side of Jack tompson also right? games cause kids to shoot other kids right?

@Mao

I am not ripping into no one, just stating my opinion, like you guys. I take back my JT comment, but your friend that dropped out of high school for a game clearly has other issues.

everything in life should be taken in moderation, even wow, lol

6.3 - Well
I don't believe games cause the physical actions that JT seems to throw out there like murder, robbery and other crimes. Those are triggered events that have to do with many cumulated thought-processess and the heat of the moment.

But when it comes to being lazy, a game can and theoritically should be thought to do the same things excessive TV, movies and other forms of entertainment can do to someone. Even gambling, it's like an addiction.

That's where anti-gaming groups get it all wrong. They don't focus on the obvious but rather over-dramatize the effects gaming has on people. Gaming is just another form of entertainment. I think it's pretty fair (not in any way related to JT and his sensationalism) to claim that gaming addiction cause people to get fat and block out the rest of the world. WoW is the best example.

EDIT: And why so offended? I've noticed through-out this news post you've been ripping on people for being anti-WoW. Calm down. You don't have to go proclaiming I'm a JT supporter cause I've had a real life instance witnessing someone throw away his reality for WoW. I'm a gamer, not some type of hidden anti-gaming spy on n4g man. Come on, lol.

Couldn't agree more!

The mainstream media stereotypes us evil gamers enough, do we need more?

I played WoW for 2 years.

I wish this crap happened when I was playing to wake my damn ass up.

I got 600 dollars for my character, sure, but I lost ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FULL DAYS OF MY LIFE. ALL WAKING HOURS.

That's entirely, entirely too much time. I eventually got bored with the game because I had done just about everything, which was the only thing that disinterested me. I would have stopped playing after my first big raid boss battle if I had known better.

So, your comment is actually not true. I did play WoW and I'd find it extremely helpful to PC gaming if the game were to just die today.

No offense but have you never played a game with an online part? Most of the time it had to go offline for maintence once and a while and WoW is a hell of a lot bigger then say CoD4 servers so it naturally has to go down a lot. If you wanna make negitive comments makes sure you know what the hell you're talking bout please.

This, however, was not scheduled weekly server maintenance.

So, lay off the guy. He was cracking a joke and you bastards who actually took offense should probably stop playing the game if you're gonna take a comment like that seriously.

Or, maybe, as I have, you've discovered that staying inside all day and night playing WoW is extremely depressing and that someone somewhere might actually commit suicide when unable to play the game and realizing that he had nothing else to do because he had cut off contact with all other human life.

Just because other humans are playing, doesn't make any one of you happier.

Doshey... Loss...

I see you fail to recognize sarcasm. Obviously he wouldn't know about the maintenance if he'd never played the game. He was being witty and saying that people would die due to the servers being down, so I in turn, was being witty and gave him that comeback. I apologize that that you took offense to what is likely the least insulting thing you can find on an internet forum.

"Or, maybe, as I have, you've discovered that staying inside all day and night playing WoW...."

I think I turned on WoW once this week just to say hi to my real life friends, who I don't contact much outside of the game since we don't go to the same school anymore. I don't raid, I don't do arena, in fact, I don't even have a guild. Don't make assumptions... just because I happen to know something that everyone who has played WoW at some point in their life would know, doesn't mean I'm an addict to the game.
