Fallout 3 and the Teddy Bear Rocket Launcher

One of the new features announced for Fallout 3 during E3 was the ability for the player to construct his own weapons out of bits of machinery he or she finds lying about in the world.

Bethesda's Todd Howard demonstrated this by showing off a rocket launcher that was built out of a wood chipper and a leaf blower. Oh, and it fires teddy bears.

1.1 - guys please...
I watched the gameplay demo on M$ session and Fallout 3 is nothing to be impressed on! the characters animations are funny and unrealistically violence! and the guy who presented it was like a crazy douche talking like violence is fun! I suggest we don't buy this game!!

the thing I hate about Fallout 3 is it being so insensitive towards some matters! 1st, the real life drugs in the game which was the sole reason for it being BANNED in Australia! another one is that 'Fat Man' mini nuke launcher! how dare them putting such a 'dirty' nuke bomb that actually killed thousands of people in the past?? if they are just mocking the name, it's still ok, but the bomb itself was design exactly like the original one albeit smaller!! it was 1 of the 2 nuke that marked the darkest moment in human history of civilised world! and the guy clearly stated that "every kids will want this under their chrismas tree!" like it's something funny!! are they plain DUMB or just being ignorant or insensitive!! if that is their idea of fun, IT'S NOT FUNNY AND HIGHLY DISTURBING!!

games are suppose to be fun but this is the kind of things that can ruin it! maybe for lots of you especially young kids don't know or simply don't care about the nukes bombing in 1945! but I've been there and seen things - that is not something you want to make fun of! the local people are still remembering those dark days and held memorial ceremony every year for the dead and also to educate the new generations about how bad the nukes are!!

they should know better of things that are OK to put in and which are not! just imagine of a dev making a game about piloting a hijacked plane and crash it into a twin tower!! how will that feel?? What I'm sure about is that game and dev will cause a lot of havok in media and people will get extremely angry!! Fallout 3 should just be the same!! SHAMED ON YOU BETHESDA!!

I'm guessing that is the bloody mess perk at work.

1. Why the heck would youn not want such beautiful blood n gore effects?

2. That's the effect of Bloody Mess perk which after picking makes everything over the top and unrealisticly violent (Which I ALWAYS try to pick).

YA I watched the demo last night on G4. I was really impressed and definitely this is now on my must buy list. Looks like tons of fun. I never got to play oblivion since when I got my PS3 I was playing a ton of other games. So I am really looking forward to this experience. Also the teddy bear launcher was pretty funny.

@Baba1906 I do agree not really sure why they explode. Although since they are supposed to be mutants after a nuclear war they may be decomposing so when shot the impact destroys them. Just a thought.

The Fallout footage on XPlay last night was awesome. It furthered my interest in the game. They should just give the bloody mess perk out as default.

I really like when you use VATS you get a birds eye view of the bullet striking the target and subsequent bloody mess to follow.

I think Adam Sessler got some wood and drooled all over Todd Howard during that demo (death by teddy bear was just too cool).

Some of the other footage they showed: Ghostbusters underwhelmed me. I didn't see anything new or exciting in it, hopefully, the story reigns supreme. Wheelman was better than I expected, but I didn't expect much from it. Some of the fighting looked pretty interesting. I was hoping Vin would come on the show to talk about it :). Silent Hill was just so so, looks like any typical horror game. Halo Wars was not a very good demo. I don't think that can speak for the game because they didn't really do anything except drive around some vehicles.

i think fallout will appeal to those who have played and enjoyed previous fallouts. i never was into them and this didn't change my mind. it looks okay and i loved oblivion(i still play it today) but this translation to the fallout series seemed a little flat. maybe when i find out more about the story- it might interest me more.
on a side note, no matter which console you own: " the wheelman" looks like some serious fun.

Actually most classic Fallout fans are hating this game since its not really Fallout and is mostly Oblivion.
The reason I still love even though I worship originals is because of gore and lack of real PC-RPG.

the gore is ok, but i found it too unrealistic (like in soldier of fortune) it seems like if you just put a single bullet in a body: then the whole thing explodes?
and i understand exaggerated gore; but this just seems like a game where that's out of place but i guess this is just a preferance. as i said in other post; when howard started talking about the us govt. that's still left and what role they play in the game is what could be the hook for me. i love a great story in a game and this could have a great story. i just wish when you shoot a guy with 1 bullet....the whole freakin body doesn't explode.....it doesn't feel right to me.
