Fallout 3 played live for first time in E3 press conference

VG247: Bethesda's Todd Howard has just played Fallout 3 for the first time in public in Microsoft's E3 press conference.

Howard showed the PipBoy 3000 with various menus and its radio options.

"This is a game where you can play any kind of character you want," said Howard.

I thought the kind of demo they gave us was exceedingly boring, or is the game suppose to be like that? I don't think the game is my kind of game by the looks of that but I'll wait for more news releases before making up my mind. But the only thing I hated about Fallout presentation was the fact that the online-addons are only coming to 360 exclusively, what the hell is wrong with them? Why doesn't Sony ever reserve some sort of exclusivity for themselves? They need to extend their wings further.

just wondering if you played fallout 1 and 2 or not or this statement might not work, like, if you played it is it boring compared to the first 2 or is it just that you were expecting an action, explosion, sex drugs and rock and roll shooter but found it not to be that? is it like the first 2 as in slower paced, more thinking involved, or is it just boring and stale period?

3.2 - They had a nuke catapult
A nuke catapult. Come on, that's gotta account for something. That was hilarious! It's like a more primitive version of the redeemer!
I gotta say tho, the name fat man might be slightly controversial. Eh, just me.

Na, I'm new to this game and have been hearing that it would be good. So I was really expecting something to get me excited or at least convince me that its worth a buy and frankly it didn't. I think its the same guys who made Oblivion, but that game too was a bit slow paced for me but I did manage to play it for a fair amount of time. I don't know maybe you or somebody could explain to me about this game.

But I like the other aspects of it, the ruined city, and the gameplay (though slightly bit odd that you could shoot at your own leisure in that view mode), was all nice touch. But it felt too empty to me, surely we aren't going to be the lone nice guy in it?

3.4 - well, you're not really nice
you're whoever the hell you want to be (if this is real fallout) but if you were expecting this game to be all heads blowing up and massess of ghouls and mutants than you were probably misjudging, Fallout is much more slower paced, but you aren't the only "friendly" person out there, there are plenty of towns and other NPC's that won't kill you on site out there.

They're demo'ng lips now. The overwhelmingly casual tone of this part of their conference is making me want to kill myself. The gears of war footage was great though.

The lips demo about put me over the edge. But it didn't seem like fallout had those stellar graphics and the game play looked a little too bland.

Wow, the game looked stunning. Definitly my fave moment from the show along with that In Movies game and of course, Fable 2.

I know, 360 and MS is gettin all kinds of love from Square. 360 is definitely the place to go to get RPG's!

JRPGs, not really a big fan of FF either, that doesn't mean I don't acknowledge the pure art and greatness the game is, it just doesn't personally interest me, I just wish the 360 was getting more Western RPGs, the best kind IMO, sure we have Mass Effect, and soon Fallout 3 but I need more, hopefully KOTOR will fill that void, but from the footage I've seen of Fallout 3, then to me it seems like too much shooting, but hey still looks great, I loved how Bethesdsa kept the same fallout style for the two teasers, and I also loved their E3 site that opened up a little while ago, made me want to play Fallout 1 or 2 again. (most likely Fallout 2 as it was better than Fallout)

Don't forget about Fallout 3 DLC and Fable 2.

8.4 - yeah
but anyway, if Fable 2 is anything like the first Fable (which hopefully its not) than I would classify that as a more action rpg than a traditional western rpg, but hey it's still looking good.

OMG, I would die if they announced KoToR3 for 360.

"then to me it seems like too much shooting" They did say that you can play the game without so much shooting, though.

I agree that Fable is mostly action RPG but its still a western RPG. PS3 has only Fallout 3 and it's multi.

8.7 - no doubting the 360's library of games.
Varied, extensive and great quality.

But however much Microsoft is willing to spend for multis and exclusives, they just don't have anything at the moment that will bring new buyers by the boatload to the 360.

Halo3 has come and gone and Gears 2 will satisfy the current owner base.
