When Windows 7 Arrives, Will Your PC Be Ready?

Pcworld writes:

Windows 7 is coming. Will your PC be ready?

It seems like a straightforward question. However, in the aftermath of the Vista debacle, where many systems that were certified as "Vista Capable" proved to be anything but, the process of vetting new Windows-compatible hardware has taken on new complexity.

Well why put it into the trash? if you dont want it then send it to a 3rd world country for free plus its you have to dispose of PC hardware properly as it contains toxic materials!

8 - this version will be running one the same platform as xp/2000
so it's expected to be a lot less of a resource hog, and to have a lot more functionality.

9 - I don't have any problems with Vista...
My vista laptop is great, and I never have any trouble with it. My only concern is that they are already making a new version. Hopefully I will not be forced to buy it.

9.1 - Same
Haven't had any problems with it. XP was great no doubt and if this is like that but with added functions then it should be the best OS MS have put out. Notice the 'should be' there lol.

While I have no problems with Vista I never bought it, it came with my gaming rig. A quadcore system shouldn't have any problems with any OS :)

My PC could easily run Windows 7. I, like a great many other people, am running Windows XP and could very easily run Windows Vista, but previous experience with it makes me cling to XP with my life. I'm no MS fan, nor am I a huge fan of Windows but I simply face facts, more things work better with XP than anything else including PC RPGs like Oblivion and Neverwinter Nights. I'll never get a Mac. For the same price of the highest end iMac I could (and have) put together a really powerful PC that can run pretty much anything I throw at it. Not to mention that I just don't like the way Steve Jobs does business. Mr. Steve Wozniak knows what I'm talking about.

It won't be out for another two years anyway.

PC users generally skip a generation. I've got XP and love it. I've tried Vista and don't like it. I'll check out Windows 7 and see if that works any better.

14.1 - I guess
if you like blocky playskool graphics and an operating system that is far less secure than Vista then by all means keep using XP.

I thought the point of releasing Windows 7 so soon was to reduce the the performance hit on PC's. True it uses the Vista core but I thought it was to be streamlined.

Jeez. Even as a 360 fanboy, I believe that Windows is crap. Pleeeeease, get Mac, I switched and I was shocked on how stable it was especially compared to Windows. Windows needs Windex, seriously.

20 - Microsoft is the same no matter if they are building OSes or Consoles
If the initial response is full of complaints, bugs or generally doesn't fit well with the market, they will move on, regardless of their customer base.

The length of the arrow is an approximation between product lifespans

XBOX ---> XBOX 360 -> MS's next console

XP --------> VistAIDS --> Windows 7
