3D Realms: Duke Coming Along, E3 "Irrelevant"

3D Realms chief Scott Miller tells Next-Gen that development on the long-awaited Duke Nukem Forever is moving right along, but he sees no reason to show it off at an "irrelevant" E3.

Asked about the progress on the years-in-development Duke Nukem Forever, Miller stated Friday in an e-mail, "Development is swimming along nicely. Seriously nicely."

This is nothing more than an excuse by 3D Realms. How can you say it's "irrelevant" to show your game at the industry's most high profile event?

I actually agree with him on the fact that the E3 actually lost quite a bit of relevance after the concept change. Quite a few big (PC) developers decided not to attend.

Calling it irrelevant is over the top though and not particularly reassuring for a title that has become the laughing stock of the industry a long time ago.

I agree with him at some point... E3 is not what it used to be, but it is still a important show to present future games. As for Duke Nukem Forever, i do not think it has a future.

This game has been talked about and in development for god only knows how many years.

This game was damn near (and kinda still is) considered vaporware.

And yet this guy says that it's irrelevant to show this game at the industry's biggest event?

That is a nice way to say "F U" to your many fans that have been anticipating your game for about a decade.

My opinion, this is just a developer making an excuse. Trying to cover up the fact that the game is nowhere near ready

Well I think he could have chosen his words much more wisely. But y'know... if they did show something more at E3 and it was sh!t... that might be the last nail in the coffin for a game that has lost almost all its hype due to development time.

Weird didn't we already see this so why does it matter? If it's good when it doe come out then we will play it any way. E3 is irrelevant with out all the pornstars though. Porn and games yeap thats what E3 was all about and they ruined it!
