Flagship Studios Crashing?

Some troubling news has arrived from inside Flagship Studios, the company created from ex-Blizzard employees mostly known for creating the Diablo games and the developers of Hellgate: London and Mythos. It seems that the employees are leaving the company in droves, and the company could be in trouble. A personal blog post of one of the "lead" programmers revealed this (but has been deleted since). The blog post reveals a lot of the current status "from the inside".

Jez. So frickin sorry to see this. I had (and still have) great hopes for Bill Roper & Co, to make more great games, like Diablo...

3 - Really Depressing!
Sad to hear someone who genuinely cares about not only the hard work put into major release but the people he worked with not succeed as some had hoped. Hopefully things will turn around and will motivate him and rest of the staff to create new content that will bring more people back. Shining example would be anarchy online, despite an absolute joke at launch is still kicking to this day. We need all the studios we can get to keep innovation and bring new mechanics to standard forms of gameplay which have churned out so many mediocre games so far this gen.

Yes, you are indeed right. Let's primaily hope that this is all about circumstances. I mean obviously this guy still has all the work morals that a person whould have. Perhaps it was mainly a natural "weed out" of the weak links now that things are a bit rough.

It isn't like they have let people go!

4 - What are they doing now?
How demoralizing for the guy. Everyone at FSS, save this guy is working on Mythos now?

I don't think this guy is on the Mythos team. I think this whole blog post is about the Hellgate team, which is the main part of FSS. Also, he mentions the bigwigs going to "other projects", I bet that is Mythos.

I am really rooting for Flagship and Mythos. They could have delivered HGL SO much better, but what is past is past, and I hope they have learned their valuable lesson.

They were the core guys to make D2, so apaprently the "only" thing they need is free reins and unlimited resources, like at Blizzard... If they had just gone that extra mile with HGL, things would probably have been completely different by now...

the core guys , hum not entirely true , they divided themselves between Flagship and L5 games (the ones making Requiem : Bloodymare ). We heard only about FSS because of Bill Roper being onboard .

Anyway i'm not sorry for them , they did an horrible job with hellgate , and it was apparent ... yet all we could read and hear in previews and the press was their glorious past at blizzard , and not so much infos about hellgate .

The sheer idea of producing a game inferior to diablo 2 with optional subscription alone should be punished .

Arena.net , didnt waste their time publicizing over and over about themselves being fromer blizzard , and most of all battlenet staff ... they did a great game wich qualities were jumping the eye . They produced a great game Guild wars , that had they remained at Blizzard , would probably had become diablo 3 ...
And now that Diablo 3 seems to be in production , they face GW as a new standard for the genre , while GW2 is readying itself to take upon WoW and AOC , and still without subscriptions .

7.1 - Completely disagree
I thought Guild Wars was a horrible game. I sincerely hope that the bench mark is considerbly higher than that.

8 - I hope not...
...but it may explain why the Mythos open beta is 3 months overdue. Met with the community manager in February, and he clearly stated that the Mythos open beta would hit soon, very possibly as soon as March...and now it's June and the open beta is still not here.

Could this be due to the loss of developers?

That particular delay is because they decided to change the whole game layout, making one consistent world, instead of the little maps. Still, the open beta is almost upon us now!

Why does people have such hard feelings against Flagship? Hellgate, had it been executed better would have been a good game and opened an interesting semi-subscriber payment methid that could be most interesting to follow up for following MMO makers in the future!

Also Mythos is very fun to play and seem very interesting!
