Confirmed: Red Alert 3 put on hold for PlayStation 3

EA has just confirmed to Strategy Informer that the PlayStation 3 version of Red Alert 3 has been put on hold.

Jonathan Goddard, PR Manager for EA said; "We can confirm that the development of Red Alert 3 for PS3 has been put on hold. EALA is focusing resources on development for PC and Xbox 360 which will ship simultaneously this autumn."

I know this is off topic but the above individual "Video Kojima", if you click on his profile and see his comments for the last hour is posting the same "potential" spoilers for MGS4 (although its more likely be a load of made-up rubbish). First of all I didn't call you stupid and I'm not the one who approved a duplicate story. At the time you approved the story the update was already there but obviously it didn't seem strange to you that there was another article with the title "Red Alert 3 PS3 cancellation is "speculation" to check it out or you were too bored to do so...

EDIT: and by update I mean CVG's update. When you look at a story, usually you don't read only the description on N4G but the whole story from the original source. If any of you bothered to do so, then this wouldn't be approved. That's my point...

this is postponed, not cancelled.

To me it sounds reasonable that EA would jump at a timed exclusive deal for the 360 for RA3. Sony have already held back KZ2 due to their packed lineup. Sure RA3 isnt in the same genra, but delaying it until maybe a dead spot next year, and adding a lot of extra game material is probably going to net them alot more sales on the ps3 than say, releasing between lbp and resistance etc. And if MS are willing to pay for that timed exclusive...

Pure speculation. Maybe the ps3 is about to get "dreamcasted"....

When Konami pulls MGS4, I'll start worrying.

It does suck that some of these games are being delayed more so with 8 days and the getaway. But with the lineup already this year these games weren't even in my top 5 to 10 lists. So them getting pushed back may suck for some dosen't bother me at the momment. Hopefully they will start back up and put out at a time when there isn't as many games releasing.

7 - The 360 version will fail.

Simply because the main fanbase of this game is an entirely on the PC. That and Red Alert isnt the type of RTS you'll want to play with gamepad. The game is ALL about microing, can you imagine microing with a gamepad? Hell no.

This game's only hope on the console is via mouse/keyboard control and the PS3 is the best platform to facilitate that. Once the PS3 is out of the picture the game has no chance.

C&C3 did well on the Xbox360, I know because I played it. So did Lord of the Rings: Battle for middle earth. Not as good as mouse & keyboard but good enough to be realy fun.

Of course the pc versions will be the greatest and with proper support from EA too which they dont give their console RTS's.

Ive played LOTR BFME2 and C n C 3 Tib Wars loads on the 360 and to be honest once you get used to the streamlined control system and accept that its not as fast as the pc interface then the games are actually very,very good.

On LIVE the experience is amazing with 2 vs 2 or 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 battles really something else - especially with the headset communication..........you can group units also but obviously not as in-depth as the pc.

1 - Gonna be alot of angry PS3 fans

Probably gonna be the RTS of the year on release and with EA behind it i cant imagine its due to lack of money or resources........still i gotta 360 so im cool - im wanting this more now than Halo Wars!

It cant be that hard to port this over to the PS3 anyways,the game mechanics will be the same on all formats surely......oh well - come on EA pull your finger out and give the PS3 crowd al least 1 decent game this year for their sake.

Any game getting put on hold sucks, I remember hearing that yesterday for the Getaway and Eightdays from a few people. Down play all you want guys, bad news is bad news.

oh, and RawD and the others saying this franchise is nothing: The Red Alert Franchise is a mutli million selling, very popular franchise, Red Alert 2 is still played by thousands everyday. Don`t talk out of your arse, just because you don`t like a game.

I want this game for PC, the PS3 version will be put on the market by Feb, they didn't put the note that microsoft wanted this game to be time exclusive.

oh... as a side note, did someone notice that any game planned for a PC launch with some importance microsoft gains the time exclusive launch for the "windows enviroment use"?
