Fallout 3: Bethesda "Bigger than we Expected"

"As part of our Fallout 3 coverage, TheGameReviews.com was lucky enough to sit down with Pete Hines of Bethesda Software while he showed us a walkthrough of the latest build of Fallout 3. While playing through the game, we were told that the game ended up "being a lot bigger than was initially planned." When we asked exactly what he meant by that, Pete Hines responded..."

Too bad they're restricted because of DVD. If only they were free to unleash the power of Blu-Ray.

Morowind is great and all, but for someone who has never played anything in the series Oblivion will be better... It's more watered down to a degree which is good for newcomers...

I still enjoy it, but you don't get the same feeling you did from morowind...

As long as bethesda keeps making strong games I'll be happy.

3.8 - Oblivion did something for me that was unprecedented
it opened my world to wrpgs, and freed me from the jrpg chains of oppression!

3.9 - Morrowind VS Oblivion
There were definately some things from Morrowind I wish were kept in Oblivion:
- The inventory grid
- The use of spears and throwing weapons
- The option to wear/combine more layers of clothing
- The ability to delete/forget older spells once they're obsolete
- The teleport abilities and silt striders

the variety to the environments that Morrowind had. Oblivion is mostly all grass & some trees...

Listen to Relcom.
Morrowind is a true masterpiece while Oblivion is just a fun little RPG but nothing special.

And even Morrowind itself is shallw and nothing compared to Fallout 2.

They addeed more because it seemed empty in someplaces.
I hope this doesn't mean they shoveled extra missions in because they wanted more to do... Shovel missions suck : kill 20 of this mutant rat etc....
If the missions they added are fun and inventive go for it - I would prefer no missions to shovelware missions.

because he has a point. I wonder what a developer like Bethesda could do with the extra space on a bluray.

I guess PCs must be hurting it to then...cuz not enough people have a blu ray in their pc and no body wants to be instalkling 50 gig games on them either....but ya know......of course its the 360 holding it back......right...

The PC is an entirely different beast. The games are compressed and requires a full install, multi disk games isn't an issue.

8 - I hope its not as
big as Oblivion. For me a bigger area in a game isn't always better. I don't want to spend my entire life trying to finish a game that has too many things to do.

Then just stick to the main story.

The extra content is there for those who want more bang for thier buck.

Old habits die hard. Bethesda sweet spot is content in an RPG world... hard for them to fight against their nature. Doesn't sound like a bad thing to me.

listed twice "As part of our Fallout 3 coverage, TheGameReviews.com was lucky enough to sit down with Pete Hines of Bethesda" just different headings...thus again we see the same articles posted up repeatedly.

I love lots of content, so long as there's still some direction. I eventually lost interest in Oblivion because the world was just so big but there was never anything pressing me to keep playing. The pace was a little too laid back.

15 - Nothing better than feeling almost overwhelmed with the number of quests in your quest-log...
"What do I feel like doing now?" - I LOVE that because it gives me a sense of freedom - that I don't HAVE to pursue the next thing.

Sometimes it's fun to just explore and ignore formal quests. We've all had the experience of inadvertanly solving a quest because we cleared out some cave we happened upon and found some quest item.
