Fallout 3: Blood and Guts "Mature Audiences for Sure"

As part of their Fallout 3 coverage, TheGameReviews.com was lucky enough to sit down with Pete Hines of Bethesda Software while he showed us a walkthrough of the latest build of Fallout 3. While they were being shown the combat system, they thought this would be a good time to bring up what ESRB rating the guys are trying to hit. His response made it clear that Bethesda is not holding anything back. This will be a mature game for mature audiences.

Good to see that it'll be mature although blood for blood's sake isn't necessarily a good thing.
I'm glad to see that you can avoid combat for the most part and finish the game though. Maybe those dialog trees are coming along.

And I highly doubt you'll be able to get the "Child Killer" label

You beat me to it :)
Sadly, they did confirm that there won't be any child killing and you won't become a "Child Killer" :(

As for blood for blood's sake, it's always a good thing in my book :D but in Fallout, it gives a rather gritty feel to combat. I hope just like the bloody enemy death animations that Bethesda has promised, there can be bloody death animations for the player.

I say go for it if it enhances the games overall feel...

Yeah, Bloody Mess was my fave trait as well along with Gifted. Hope they bring back traits like "Bloody Mess" and "Sex Appeal" :D

Hope they release some sort of unrated edition for PC that has the "Child Killer" tag because without it, this is like the "European version of Fallout 2" ;)

I'm always a little uncertain about media that is most noted for it's mature content: even if the plot and story of the game is still enjoyable the violence and whatever else is contained within can often become the sole point of focus. Still, Bethesda has made some good games in the past, and I suppose all there is to do is trust them not to let the violence take over.

We all know that violence is fine for the ESRB and the public in general, just don't include any sex whatsoever or they'll come get ya!

So true... I love how something that would be PG 13 in a movie is pushing the limits for a game...

7 - It rocks
When I was at the hands on there was one random AI action that had a mob I was about to shoot, it backed off and literally gave me the finger, Pete said at that point it was the first time he ever saw that. M games are great.

8 - Can I ask a question guys?
What is this game about and why is it going to be so good? I've been looking everywhere for info but can't find anything that's too telling. What's the hook of the game?

It's an RPG that's set in a post apocalyptic world as if the apocalypse had occurred during the 1950's. In this game you are born in a large scale bomb shelter called a vault. I'm not exactly too sure what the nitty gritty details of the story are but you can probably find that out at http://fallout.bethsoft.com...

the combat is going to be great but there will be the option of going through the game without much combat so everyone is a winner
