Newbies SHOULD use the m-16 as their first weapon. It is a very capable and accurate wep. in this game.

As soon as you unlock the AK you should switch to that. new players to COD4 are very twitchy and a spray and pray auto weapon suits them better. the M16 is an advanced players weapon, you need map knowledge and patience to succeed with it.

I have to disagree with him when it comes to claymores.

To defend a objective or domination point simply use C4 for that, once they are at the area, simply detonate and they die. Much better then a very visible claymore.

A good way to survive is grab an M16 with red dot, stopping power, doubble tap or sleight of hand, and deep impact. Take it slow the first 30 seconds or so of the game so most of hte nades are already used. Or you can just charge in past the grenades and go insane. I've often found that just charging in on people with the weapon + perks I mentioned usually does the trick.

Or you can go SOCOM style and quick snipe. Sort of... it works great for me. Also, I don't feel like explaining what quick snipe is, and its kinda hard to do in COD4 the SOCOM way, but once you get the hang of it it can do wonders. Especially on um.. whats that map name... I just remember its a middle eastern one, the middle is a big building with a big courtyard with a statue in the middle. The building has 2 levels and its pretty much my favorite map(not that you'd know which one htat is x.x) I think it's crossfire. Dammit someone tell me the name of hte map before I go insane. My PS3 comes in tomorrow and I don't want to wait that long. Also I'm too lazy for google! :D
