Why it's good to be a PC gamer in '08: Action

PC gaming is alive and well. One of the reasons why I believe so is because of the kick ass list of RTS games that are expected to come out this year. I know the RTS fans will be pleased with this year's lineup, but what about us action buffs? What good shooters are coming out this year? Only a retard would call other people retards for doing something different, or believing in something else.

The graphics on PC are on a league of their own; more advanced than either the PS3 or the 360. You get what you pay for. And for $1,000 (not THOUSANDS), you can get a PC that will blow the PS3 and 360 out of the water in terms of graphics (that is, if you build it).

However, I do agree in terms of 'whats dominating now.' The PS3 and 360 have all the greatest and most anticipated games for the year, and the only thing i'm looking forward to in PC is Mass Effect, and maybe Starcraft 2.

Or the money it takes to buy a $400-$500 console, a $1,000 HDTV, and a $200 5.1 surround sound to enjoy the consoles they way they were meant to be played?

I will pay $800 for a gaming rig I build myself that blows the consoles out of the water in terms of graphics AND control scheme (KB+M FTW!!).

Being a graphics whore and a tech buff there is no way any of the consoles can scratch my itch for the best looking and playing games available today.

At least show me a game that looks nicer than Crysis on consoles before you tell me that PC gaming is on the out.

I respect your perspective but I think PC gaming is not going anywhere.

Matter of opinion dude. I for one cant use a keyboard and mouse to save my life. I'm sure I'd get the hang of it if I really tried but console gaming appeals to me so much more. I cant stand booting up my PC to play a game, It takes so long. All the technical stuff goes over my head a lot of the time too. In general I much prefer the games released on consoles only. But the biggest factor would be that my friends play consoles and it's them i want to play with. Thanks to college though I've tried a few games on PC I normally wouldn't have played on anything but a console.

well then it's still good being a PC gamer

PC gaming is much more rewarding if you put the time and effort in

you get better graphics, a catalogue of games that make the PS2 look like the Virtual Boy

and a lot of diversity

you get emulators to play old games, tons of free indie games, you can get the latest games via steam or the shops or you can torrent ANY game for free

there's just so much

but i prefer being a console gamer primarily anyway

apart from when its time to waste my life playing Counterstrike

I played CS:S for the first time today with a friend in college. It was just me and him with a bunch of bots filling in the empty spaces but it was fun. Not a bad game

I don't understand why people have such a blind hatred for PCs.

Although I enjoy PCs more, I enjoy playing consoles quite a lot. All gaming platforms have excellent games on them--why can't we just be indifferent to what platform the game is being played on and simply play and enjoy the game?

well #1 console fanboys feel the need to tell PC gamers on this site how much they could buy for how much we spend building a kick ass gaming rig. dunno why but they do.

#2 they dont know how the tech works or are lazy to figure out if a game has an update or vid card needs a driver.

#3 my favorite argument by far for console fanboys hating on PC's
: i like to sit on my comfy couch and play on my HDTV instead of a computer chair on a monitor. then get a better chair and a nice big monitor.

basically none of their arguments have anything to do with games. money...sitting arrangements and this silly thought of having to upgrade every year.

With the time i have available... the PC (when at home) and the PSP (not at home) is more then enough for me...

I don't think acquiring any more console soon... PC has more then enough games then i can handle.
