Gameplayer Gives Iron Man 3/10

Gameplayer has gone live with their review of the latest movie-to-game tie-in, Iron Man. They declare it a contender for worst game of the year.

"The super-hero Iron Man may have the freedom to fly, but this game turns the player into a prisoner. Soaring above sparse, soulless environments, your mission is to perform mindless, repetitive tasks until either all enemies are defeated or you abort from sheer boredom."

pretty much. The masses always eat them up though. I don't usually ever have buyers remorse. I wonder if the people who lap this crap up ever do.

Games based on movies should limit themselves to 2D. I would've rather had a Contra like Ironman game with lots of laserbeams and missiles in an HD colorful well developed 2D platformer, than what they made.

Movie games always suck now a days. I know they are kinda dorky, but do you remember Alladin and the Lion King for Genesis and SNES. Those games rocked. Plus, I may be the only person I know, but I loved Jaws for the NES. But movie games now are completely terrible. I always find it funny when I go to a Gamestop and see like 30 used copies of spiderman 3 for 360 and ps3, who the heck was dumb enough to buy these games new anyways?

Ditto, Demo was kinda boring amounting to holding a thrust button to fly to some point and just shoot a fairly static target. Maybe this should be an XBLA title?

Poor Iron Man. His movie rocks but his game... Well, it's the tredition, at least he got a good movie, something that Ghost Rider didn't and had both his film and game turn out to be garbage.

Well I for one, was hopeful that this game will change the trend of failures of movie-tie ins. But:(
Guess we have to wait longer for a good game made on movie:(

7 - For Me
It is such a shame when awesome characters which would make for wicked gaming are left to rot in the hands of crappy developers.

8 - TBH
when I played the demo... it was alright..
But c'mon... these movie games only have a limited time to produce.
It's not like they'll release the game half a year ahead of the movie.

If there was serious time put into it. It would be good.

8.1 - exactly
the demo wasnt as bad as people make it out to be. It had good graphics compared to other movie games that have come out in the past. These are great stories that had enough time in the movie studio to make it a success but not enough time in the game studio to design a unique style for the game to portray the story of the movie the way it deserves. The controlers were what bothered me since they had a lot of getting used to which I never did. Its sad really, that it is rare to see a good story of a movie go bad in gameplay. Thinking about it now the only game I ever enjoyed playing that was from a movie was Aladin for the SNES which was fun. Other than that I dont recall another game from a movie that has been fun for me.

"the demo wasnt as bad as people make it out to be"

I played the PS3 demo over the weekend and I didn't care for it. It just doesn't control well. Maybe you get used to it over time but I sure couldn't in the demo.

Iron Man could have had potential. I played the demo and was quite shocked at how in some places it looked quite nice and in other places bland, unfinished and rushed.

Sadly it's down the developers here.

I played the demo and I didn't find it that bad. I like the way you can throw back rockets and rip helicopters in too. I think if it had more development time it would have turned out a great game.
Oh well.

14 - I learned my lesson...
when I begged my parents to shell out $50.00 for ET for my Atari 2600.

That's the target market for these limp, 3rd string games- little kids who see the movie and want more.

Anyone else out there as old as I? :)

Happy gaming...

I actually liked the demo. I've been plying games for a long time and I think people have forgotten what it is to just enjoy games. Every game I've ever played regardless of whether it was rated a 10 or a 1 has been repetitive. It doesn't have to be complicated and have online play and voice chat or achievements to be fun.I'm taking a stand and buying games that interest me and not give a sh!t what the review says.

16 - This is upsetting
Iron man could have been the first movie game aside from the first two spider man movie games to be done right.

If they can mess up a concept like Iron man, then there is NO hope for any other superhero movie game.

17.2 - I don't dislike Ironman comic wise
But I will say he has too much power

First of all, he is Ironman, one of the more powerful characters in marvel.

He is a rich as bruce wayne

He leads the Initiative

Leads the mighty avengers

Director of Shield

That is just way too much power

18 - honestly
the demo was rough around the ages, but it had potential.

i could see under the hood, this could have been a great movie-to-videogame transition.

but it would have definitely have benefited from more production time.

if the game had maybe half a year more under development, we could have gotten a good game.

Might as well watch the movie only then.
*sigh* I have yet to see a movie game done right.
