Does EA Fear Spore will Fail?

This article over at Gameplayer looks into the strange release pattern Spore will take and asks whether EA may be worried about getting the broader audience to understand the game.

"With most new games, publishers 'um' and 'ah' about the release of any playable demo, if they mention it at all. But then, most games are instantly understandable - they speak for themselves. But Spore does not speak for itself."

I hope it succeeds so EA will take greater creative risks in the future.

I see two other possible reasons for that:
1) to make more money by charging twice
2) because the creature creator is the only part truly finished so far

Well they put a lot of time and money into this game so it would be silly to not think they are hoping it'll sell and sell well. Kind of cool they are releasing a demo 2 months in advance. I kind of want to play the iPhone version. That demo was pretty neat from what I saw. Kind of like flOw but I'm sure there is more to it as well.

Well, they will get my money while finding out.

I think that so many people wondering if it will live up to the hype will purchase enough copies to make this thing a hit lol
