Haze PS3 exclusive "for now", says Ubisoft

Ubisoft has told CVG that the official stance on Haze remains that it's exclusive to PS3 "for now", in response to recent reports that the FPS will never come to 360.

Stories on the 'net today report that unnamed Ubisoft spokespersons attending the Play.com Live event in Wembley Stadium, London, over the weekend confirmed that the nectar-fuelled shooter will only ever appear on PS3.

UBISOFT needs to make up their mind. Gamers are more interested about a launch date than indecisiveness about where it should be exclusive or not.

3 - UBIsoft isn't sure about shooters
They've recently said they saw little merit in FPS games (as compared to other genres) so it may be they're not sure about Haze itself being worthy of publishing. They're already too far gone on PS3 to stop that version, but odds are that if the game underperforms on PS3, they'll can it for 360 and PC, blaming the game for the failure.

Odds are, the game is going to have to get extraordinary reviews for them to sink money into the ports...

From the moment it was declared a PS3 exclusive and would never make it to the 360, the internet has attacked it. That has to hurt Ubisoft a little. But if they say it's coming to the the 360, then I bet it starts to get good press surrounding it.

so I will wait and see what happens.

I think Ubi is putting itself in a tough position bringing out this game amongst PS3's 3rd-party beasts.

Naturally, this game would do very well with the 360 crowd for obvious reasons. :-)

I just wish these unnamed sources would be revealed. All this Cloak & Dagger crap is pissing me off. Screw all of the speculation. I consider this a PS3 exclusive until it actually shows up on another platform. I don't care for timed exclusives anyway. Just make it the best it can be for the first platform it is released on and to he11 with the future ports.

All platforms would be better off with more exclusives and fewer multiplatform titles anyway. A lot of developers just can't pull off simultaneous multiplatform development and deliver equal results. IMO the exceptions so far have been COD4, Burnout Paradise and DMC4.

My rant is over. Happy gaming people.

Ubisoft has always been a huge 360 supporter.
They said the 360 would out sell the PS3 this year.
They have and will release true exclusives for the 360 only.
Ubisoft has always been in Microsoft's corner.

Valve, Capcom, Ubisoft, and even EA are in the MS group

Maybe you're right about Ubi supporting MS but saying the 360 outsell the PS3.... even I could gave guessed the 360 is going to outsell the ps3 with an advantage of 1 year.... but the facts are it only sells in NA, not in EU or JP and there sony constantly outsells them with NO GAMES except a few...

I still have doubt about Capcom supporting MS....

So if it ever does come out on the 360, I expect many many posts of how awesome that game is going to be since it's coming out for the 360. And many more posts about how superior it is compared to the PS3 version. And many more posts about PS3 losing exclusives. And many more posts about graphics comparison about how the 360 will have 2 more textures than the PS3 version. And then of course finally MGS4, and Final Fantasy XIII is going to the 360.

That somehow Haze will end up lost in the shuffle of games coming out between now and Christmas 08. The longer the wait, the more people may not care about it. There are just too many high profile games coming out for all platforms, and Haze is just another promising shooter in a long list of other shooters out/coming out.

To be honest, I feel that if this game truely is PS3 exclusive, then it should just stay that way. I'm not confident that 360 owners will even bother with this game 6 months or so down the road with Gears 2 on the horizon.

Take Unreal Tournament 3 for example. How many 360 owners are actually talking about the eventual release of that game right now for Microsoft's console? I know I'm not. Who with a PS3 cares much about Lost Planet right now? Time can be a game's worst nightmare on a console that gets a game too late.

Whether PS3 exclusive or not, HAZE should have come out fall 2007 - that's when the PS3 needed it the most and was the opportune time for a new title/franchise to come in and prove itself (due to few games on PS3 compared to that on the X360). Its just that between Ubidays 07 and fall, a lot info/details about HAZE was disclosed; thereby building anticipation/hype. But now the more the delay, the less excited I get - it's gotten to a point I no longer read the impressions/previews posted about HAZE...my focus is on Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, GTA IV, Gears of War 2, Halo Wars, Splinter Cell Conviction etc. All I want from Free Radical/Ubisoft is the RELEASE DATE. For Free Radical/Ubisoft's sake, HAZE has to come out sooner or it may "end up lost in the shuffle of games coming out between now and Christmas 08", as my fellow gamer ceedubya9 put it.

As much as I would like to have this title on my 360, I just wish Ubisoft would make up their minds on console availability.

One guess: The game's costing more to develop than they were anticipating, and making it multi-platform...even with delays for the 360 and PC...would help recoup those costs.

Just a thought.

If it's some un-named source, from the floor of video game confrence then take with a grain of salt. Cause most of the time's the un-named sources don't exist.

if its 4 player co-op, then i want it.

but timed exclusives really do have an effect on sales for the other console that doens't get it on day one. A good example would be UT3, i was looking forward to that game just as much as Halo3, especially after loving Gears, but now..... i just really lost interest.
