Lost Planet Colonies confirmed for $30, online not backwards-compatible

Joystiq writes: "Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition -- known around these parts as Lost Planet: Colonies or Lost Planet 1.5 -- has finally been officially announced. The game is a repackaging of the full Lost Planet title, plus a bunch of additional multiplayer and single-player extras. The good news: It'll cost about $30. The bad news: Colonies Edition multiplayer will be incompatible with current Lost Planet games.

Scheduled for a May 27 release on 360 and PC, Colonies mainly adds new, creative multiplayer modes to the original game. Several are based on holding checkpoints and CTF variants. Our favorite, however, lets one gamer control an Akrid, with the others teaming up to try to take down the alien. Different creatures are available, and we recently saw a demo showing how a spindly, player-controlled giant can make quick kills with its swiping legs."

I'll pass on this garbage. Capcom bring on SF4 & RE5.

Why did Capcom port a subpar version to the PS3 just a month ago when this was coming? What was the point?

2.1 - YES WTH
Really, even though we still got Lost Planet, which was nice at first, it came out with like 3 upgrades. Now there's a new edition that's cheaper 2 months later with more stuff?

4 - Well, this is good.
I remember really liking the Xbox360 demo, but for some reason I never got around to buy the game.
I'm certainly going to buy this version.

And yeah, it sucks for the Ps3 brothers and sisters (the ones that like Lost Planet, anyway) that they won't get this version. Capcom definitely screwed up there, they should have waited a couple of months and released "Colonies" for both consoles.

5 - Okay
This is cool for people who haven't played it yet and actually want to see what its all about. Otherwise, it seems as if you weren't that thrilled about the multiplayer in the beginning, then you probably won't care about this too much. Still, its a cool upgrade as it is with all of the extra stuff for only 30 bucks.

I'm still waiting on a Dead Rising 2 though Capcom. Or how about a Dead Rising: Mallrats Edition with online co-op????

I can understand why the ps3 fans hate this game. Any multiplatform game that is better on the 360 they always bash. Oh well...sucks for them. I'll be buying this great title on day 1. :)

It's the same game released in 2006. This is like buying Oblivion and then buying the game of the year edition of Oblivion. Go get milked :)

might pick this up since i passed on the first and the multiplayer sounds pretty expanded. a full fledged sequel woulda been nice tho and this coming 3 months after the sh1tty port of the first for PS3 seems like a d1ck move on PS3 owners. i woulda rather had cross-plat play between 360/ps3 players then pc/360
