Kane and Lynch sold 1.4 million units -- A point for EA's John Riccitiello

Buried in its restructuring statement was this bit of data from SCi/Eidos: Kane and Lynch sold 1.4 million units.

That's a solid, though far from spectacular, worldwide performance for a game that got very mixed reviews.

However SCi said it could have done much better. "We believe it could have sold more had we optimised the opportunity," it said in a statement.

Yup. Its a shame when a crap game like this sells and a really good game such as Tools of Destruction, which is doing decent but not well, sells slower.

If a console game has "good" advertising and has a theme that is attractive to the game-buying demographic (guns and tough guys--grr!), then it will sell. Just look at 50 Cent: Bulletproof.

Yeah the game had really mint trailers, guess 1.4 million people didn't try the demo.

6 - That's one of the "things"
about the HD-era. As long as it looks good people will buy it, no matter what. K+L isnt crap buy any means, but its shovelware for sure.

That's the difference between the Wii and the HD-era consoles. With the Wii you can tell if its crap right off the bat, but with the HD consoles devs try to hype up games just based on thier visuals when the core gameplay is trash.

ex. Ass Creed, Two Worlds, Jericho, Timeshift, The Darkness, STRANGLEHOLD, Crackdown, etc. etc.

6.1 - Crackdown
I have to disagree, at least when it comes to Crackdown, I thought it was a really fun game, not much to it but what was there was fully entertaining and multi was a blast. The only thing against it was everyone percieved it as crap becuase of the Halo 3 Beta.

This should be a warning to all those who use sales as an indicator of a "good" game.

8 - Sold Out
It's actually hard to find a copy of his at retail stores.
Did they stop making the game or something? Cuz whenever I ask about it, it's sold out.

12 - Underrated
I rented this game and loved it. It was all about heists and thats never been done before in games. Sure there were some problems with the game (mostly controls and not the best graphics online mode too shallow) but there is no denying the game IS fun after you learn how to play it. If all i did was play the demo I wouldn't have liked it. You have to play the first few missions to understand how this game is very cool. Its not a "great" game but it is a good game if you like crime drama.

I also enjoyed this game, but it came out at the same time as CoD4 and Assassins Creed so no one gave it a chance. At least these sales figures will probably warrant a much-improved sequel.
