50 players online confirmed for Frontlines 360 - Only 1 map will support this number at launch

Videogamer reports THQ has confirmed that Frontlines: Fuel of War, which is released across Europe on Friday, will support multiplayer games of up to 50 players on Xbox 360 - 64 for PC gamers. This makes it the first next-generation console title to offer such a large player count in online games.

The Xbox 360 version will launch with 90 dedicated multiplayer servers across Europe and North America, with one map, Village, offering support for the full 50 players. As more dedicated servers are brought online, additional maps will be opened up for 50-player games.

until they bring in some form of group voice chat, social gaming is near impossible with anything more than 12 players

I'll be renting this game to see if THQ didn't solely go for flash

they kinda did bring in a group chat. no one can talk to each other unless you join up in squads. so it kinda eliminates the lag you would get from everyone talking at once. plus you don't have to hear the 12 yr. olds.

Funny, I remember playing counterstrike with more than 12 players, I believe (been a while). Of course it was typing and no talking. I can't imagine having to chat while playing, just not my cup of tea to chat in real voice.

well at least they are going with dedicated servers, which should remove the lag that plague other games.

Your talking out your anus. There is no lag that "plagues" other games.

now, on PSN, I can barely play a game. Because all it's games lag. Yep. A plague of lag on PSN.

Even dedicated servers can lag - lag is inherent to online gaming like it or not.

Thats absolute BS. Keep peddling your lies. I play with a wireless connection and have never experienced lag on PSN. Do you really think you carry any credibility on this site? I am not saying it never lags (although I havent experienced any) but it certainly is not "A plague of lag on PSN". In making that comment you show you have never played on the PSN. Keep up the good work, MS loves you.

3 - Well
This is actually a really damn good thing. Also communication works great. You can join a squad or create a squad. Those in your squad are the only ones you can communicate with. There is a seemless ease of use, because from my experience people who work well together cordinating a campaign are in constant communication. Add to the variety of objectives team work wins in many of the contests I've played. This is a great way to go, I think the more people play this game the more they are going to walk away impressed and wanting more. R2 actually has to contend with this game from a feature standpoint and how it intergrates its 50 player online mode. This game is right now...So do yourself a favor and get on board. I have a feeling this is only going to wet folks appetite for the new Battlefield...

Im sure there is more then just the 1 map. That is probably the only map that will support up to 50 players and the other maps will support less.

Wrong and right...The game is not a graphical powerhouse, but it damn sure is not sore on the eyes. If you have an HDTV or a really good CRT one the game looks stunning. On a side note like most here who actually played the game would respond, what does graphics have to do with game-play?

One of the best parts about live right now is there are so many people who haven't played these types of games. I have friends who are strictly into sports, about five of them downloaded the game and are loving it. So I'm sure this title is going to garner alot of new commers and they are going to wreak havoc getting into it. Thats just my assesment from PLAYING the game...
