Warcraft III: Frozen Throne Patch 1.21b Released

Blizzard Entertainment issued out the awaited patch 1.21b which allows players to play the game without the requirement of its CD loaded on the CD-Drive. Now play without CD.

This feature is useful for those whose CD is broken, scratched, or missing; or those who may need the CD-drive for other purposes while playing.

Agree, I play that from time to time with some friends online.
I dont understand why devs still use disc protection, its so freaking anoying. Alot of times if there is a game I want to play but I have to put the cd in each time I want to play it, I usually wont play it.

They should just have it like windows or norton antivirus where when you install the game it checks to make sure your cd key is unique then activates the games. If you dont have internet then dial in and do a phone activation...

This is one of the few games I consistently play still and this patch is completely fuc*ing useless because anyone that isn't a moron already uses a no cd crack if they want to play without a cd

we were promised a real patch by the end of january and this is all we get

Those who use no-cd crack are vulnerable to trojans, virus, spyware, malware and whatnot. Do you trust the third-party software? Or would you rather have Blizzard release their own native no-cd? Starcraft got it 2-3 weeks ago. This time it was Warcraft 3's turn. More power to us.

Patch 1.22 is in the works, and it's expected in upcoming weeks. Blizzard can't really predict when a patch is ready to go. They indeed said the patch 1.22 would be out by the end of December, then by January. Guess what? Qualty Assurance may find a big time bug 2 hours before the patch goes live, and it could be cancelled until they straighten up the code to fix it.

And then people gets mad when they don't give ETA ... when they miss the ETA, trolls go into uproar frenzy.

Patch 1.22 is of course still in the works and updates will be posted accordingly on the patch update thread:

you can't be serious. Your complaining because you think you not getting enough support on a game thats almost as old at the PS2?? seriously? this game is almost 5 year old, the original game is 6 years old! Blizzard are one of the best Devs out there when it comes to support. There have been many patches since this game released Some people live to complain.

I wish more gaming developers would do the same tbh. Anyone that WANTS to play without CD can anyway, so can anyone that wants to play without pay. Stupid system to keep people buying the discs...

9 - YAY!!!!!!!!!!
Lol i stil play this game more than i play ps games. I wished they did this sooner for the fact that after awhile your discs fuk up and cant play the game as smooth or load data as good. Also I dont have to look for cd when its not already in or carry it around with me other places I go. I also use to use the no cd crack but I think it lagged wc after a couple games played havent tested to see if this performed better but its good to have an official source from blizzard that is made for it.

11 - I trust 3rd parties
more than I trust handing my hard earned money over to retailers for a game that came out when the Olsen Twins were still Minors.

The point of the article seemed to be if you owned the software, you could play the game without the CD.

Like it or not, that technology has been around FOR A WHILE, they finally just decided to not be stingy about it. It's not like they couldn't afford to do it or anything.

I don't even wanna start on WOW

Out of all Blizzard Titles Warcraft 3 was the biggest dissapointment to me. Not surprising that Blizzard is continuing to support the game though. They are very good with that.

13 - No cd
There is many unoffical no cds, so this isnt a big deal.

If only blizzard would continue making WC3 games and not WoW...

Wow messed up the lore.

Not really. WoW doesn't do a whole lot in terms of lore. It's more like a huge collection of side stories.
