Frontlines Devs: Not Denying Fuels Of War Is Cancelled For PS3?

Reports have come in that Gamestop & EBGames have been notified the PS3 version is canceled, listings seem to have been removed from their respective web sites, and admins on the Kaos Studios forums are not denying it.

Does anyone even want this game? I sure don't. If the PS3 version was cancelled I say so what. It will probably just be a crappy game. I have too many great PS3 games to play now. They'll keep me busy until the really big games come out.

It doesn't matter how many shooters are out there. I don't think that is a logical reason for cancelling any game on a console. I wasn't too interested in this game in the first place; however, I don't like not having it as an option to buy except for my 360. I love both consoles for different reasons, but I do prefer my PS3. There are only two viable reasons for them cancelling the PS3 version (if indeed they did) this late in the game especially since the release date is around the corner. The first being: They were paid a monetary compensation to keep it on one console. I find this unlikely since from what I have seen of the game...it is not worth MS keeping this title on one console. The second being (and more likely): The developer was having trouble with the programming code on the PS3 and decided not to finish investing money into the project since they couldn't figure how to program properly for the PS3. Will I miss this game...no. If it gets good reviews I can easily buy it for the 360; however, I don't like not having the option to buy it for any console of my choice.

Could this be one of the results of those terrible sales of some games....lets be honest here....most of us thought unreal tournament 3 was a no brainer...something that should of sold more then 500K....could this be the result of how the ps3 needs more time too develop games for since its different..thus that extra money too be spent on development of the game is not worth the sales thats projected...its starting too look like it..
@ bottom..your right...thanks... brian...use unreal tournament as the Number one reason too cancel a game right now...and it being a fps doesnt help much with many on the market right now...i doubt it sells 2 million civnick but it will do respectable.

@heyheyhey..thats you...theres 3 and a half million ps3 owners in america..where halo 3 sold 4 and a half million copies in america alone..theres no excuse for a game of ut3's pedigree too sell lousy on any console......which are 3 and a half million people with the chance too buy games...You might not of been the ones but there were plenty of ps3 fanboys on here claiming that again..ut3 was a system seller...every game down the line is a potential system seller and game sales have shown even people who do own ps3's dont buy those games that are exclusive...you are right ...it hasnt released in europe yet...but you think its going too be a million seller..good luck with that.

oh god you guys have got to stop saying that a) ps3 owners don't buy games and b) stop using unreal as an example

first things first- i have 12 games, not bad for a person who xbots claim is a "movie fanatic"

secondly- unreal hasn't been released in europe yet, now i know that america is the number one fps-crazy land, but still- i am buying unreal when it comes out here in the UK and im sure that others will too

a lot of console owners look for games with substance, story and depth- and UT has none of it, which makes it lose its appeal to the very large RPG-fan market and the market for original games

Somehow i find it hard to believe that a dev would just randomly cancel a version that they have been working on quite a lot, unless they worked out some kind of deal (timed exclusivity most likely) with M$

EDIT: i never said it is definetley going to sell 1mil, i just said that you should wait until it is released everywhere in the world before you write it off as a "poorly selling game"

Mate, first of all. Halo 3 was extremly advertised, UT3 wasnt. 2) Halo came in a time where almost no other FPS game was released. CoD4 took away alot of attention from UT3. 3) The xbox install base in US is 10 million vs an install base at 3.5 milliion for the Ps3. Also assume that half of those aren't even interested in the game and the fact that UT3 isnt even released in EU doesn't really boost the sales.

I never heard of this game prior to tonight.

What's it about?

Edit: just did my research for all those interested.

Alright, Frontlines is a game from Kaos Studios, a studio under THQ made up of former Desert Combat Mod team members, and other emplyoees from developers who have focused on shooters.

This is their first game and it's primarily focused on Multiplayer and it's set around the events of a fictious story about East, versus West.

The game boasts 64 player multi-player and wants to redifine team play.

If the PS3 "isn't selling" explain why over 9 million of them have been purchased so far. If PS3 games "aren't selling" explain why Call of Duty is at 1.5 Million copies sold, Assassin's Creed is at 1.3 Million copies sold, Uncharted is at 850 Thousand copies sold, Resistance is at 2.5 Million, and Motorstorm is over 2 Million sold as well. I could go on and on with huge sales figures for PS3 titles.

The sony defence force is so in-control of this site, that what we see above (the "spam" comment) is an attempt to censor information that doesnt support their fantasy.

The fact is, that games on the PS3 arent selling. The PS3 itself isnt selling. The developers and publishers can't make games and see them fail over and over again - these people need to make their money back. They cant continue throwing money down the PS3-hole.

This is not surprising to anyone who's ever taken Accounting or Economics beyond a grade-school level.

Sacrifice to buy sh*tty games!? Dude you did not just say that. I know some PS3 users have made cracks at people who solely own 360s about that to get achievements, but don't give them ammo man.

That said, I played the 360 demo and wasn't too impressed. If I want a nigh futuristic Battlefield clone then I'll just play 2142, I have it already so it saves me time and money. Besides, just got UT3 on PS3 and I have it on PC already and a plethora of other shooters. Bad Company is also coming out soon. ..

This is comming from a guy that probably has:

RFOM, URT3, COD4 and will be buying, KZ2, Resistance 2 , Battle Field 2 & Haze.

The 360 has hundreds more games so the PS3 actually has many FPS games in comparison. Both consoles in 2007 best games were FPS's and some of PS3's best 2008 line up is made up of FPS's vs the 360 were none have been assumed to be the 360 best games for 2008.

Ha, I only have Resistance from that list because it came with my PS3.

The only other FPS games I have (and I mean on any consoles) is Rainbow Six Vegas on PS3, Red Steel on Wii and The Orange Box on 360. Half Life for PS2...

I don't like the genre of FPS bar a few games, like Half-Life or Duke Nukem 3D. Everything else, and I mean everything else, sucks.

So, yeah, don't make assumptions.

....is average to great matters. Ones that are proven to be absolute garbage then no they don't matter. But don't judge a game just by the type of genre its in. Its always nice to have a large selection of games in a genre than to have a very limited selection.

Why else would someone keep making things up or dredge up old issues that aren't relevant any more.
The devs that count are proving that the PS3 can be programed for and now dev are starting to do the development on the PS3 and porting it over to the 360.

1st unreal tounament has had a slow start for 2 reasons first most people were getting or just started playing cod4 which everyone loves.
2nd thier was very little marketing for unreal and it's ps3 release date
was back n forth and some of us were just waiting on some mods to be cooked.
frontlines who cares most of you won't buy this game so stop defending it everyone at my gamestore dropped it in 20 minutes to go back to cod4.

It hasn't come out outside the US yet, which is where most of the PS3 market is.
I will be getting it when it comes out in the UK next Month.
As the sale will pickup later on in the year with the other releases, I'm sure UT3 will be one game that people will be picking up.
