BioShock Snags Record-Breaking 12 Interactive Achievement Award Noms, COD 4 Earned 10+ Noms

GameDaily reports the critically acclaimed blockbuster from Ken Levine and 2K Boston will vie for Game of the Year with Call of Duty 4, Rock Band, Super Mario Galaxy and The Orange Box.

The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) has unveiled the nominees for the 11th annual Interactive Achievement Awards, which will take place during The D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit 2008 on February 7 at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas. 2k Boston's BioShock, which already earned a number of Game of the Year awards from various publications, received an incredible 12 nominations across a variety of categories, including Game of the Year, in these peer-based awards. Activision's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare also earned 10+ nominations.

the only problem i had with Bioshock was the lack of replay value.I would like to play it again at his point but at the time i finished the game i really didn't feel compelled to play it again.It would have been cool to have a multiplayer online mode.Using those plasmids online against others would have been awesome.But that still cant take away the brilliance that game has

My game of the year is Mass Effect and only beat Bioshock by a hair strand.

Like my fellow gamers above me have already said, well deserved. Quite frankly, I bought an Xbox 360 just for Bioshock (I traded in old games and got a huge store credit at GameStop...I bought a used system).

What seperates this game from others (and will no doubt spawn lots of clones) is that it's such an amazingly beautiful, original, cinematic experience. I don't mean to sound un-American, but I wouldn't have expected such a bold, daring concept like this to be from the US. I'm used to playing the genetically engineered super-soldier saving the world from destruction, that the idea of playing a regular Joe in an underwater utopian world was, ironically, a breath of fresh air.

Developers, take note: Take risks with your games. We're tired of being soldier in World War II or having to save the damsel in distress...give us big daddies!! (scratch that last sentance)

I'm still working on Eternal Sonata, and got bored with folklore, I'm gonna snatch this up for $45 from this kid. Loved the DEMO.

This is an Original Classic. I can't Imagine part 2. Rapture survives I hope.
