"Unfortunately, the launch of Hellgate: London in Asia didn't start well and it has taken a turn for the worse. Crashing problems wreaked havoc on the servers early, and all attempts to patch the issues failed. This left the Hellgate team with only one option, a complete character wipe. Apparently some areas of the world have easier access to hell than others."

IGN : Remember Hellgate: London? The dark fantasy action role-playing game came out in 2007 for PC, a year before developer Flagship Studios went bankrupt. Since then, various free-to-play and online revivals have come and gone. Now, 17 years after the release of Hellgate: London, it’s back.
I remember some friends and I all bought Hellgate: London day one because it was made by some original Diablo devs. We had fun playing it, good memories.
PC Invasion: Hellgate: London is back on Steam, but it's not what you expect it to be. It's a single-player game in the vein of Asian MMOs.

They actually are. It'll be a VR game. Not sure what Hanbitsoft is thinking. Supposedly Hellgate is doing GREAT in Korea, but not-so-much outside of it besides a fan revive called Hellgate: 2038. I'd actually love to see Bandai and the creators of DOOM team up for another rumble against Hell's forces.
You and me both, Lon3wolf. I want a full new game or a REALLY good remaster. I think in today's market, it'd actually do a lot better under the proper team.
It's still alive, haha. There's a fan revival currently going on that just entered Open Alpha. I've actually tried it out. It's actually pretty solid and their servers are definitely as good as you'd hope for a private server.
the atmosphere is incredible. f they remade the game with todays graphics but kept the actual look and feel of the game i would spend a ton of money on it. Engineer baby!!
It's a shame Hellgate: London did so poorly. It was an interesting game, and well worth a sequel.
You can actually play it today! The fan revival has been a solid experience for me so far (aside from getting a good disc off Ebay or Amazon).

that sux for gamers in Asia, I feel for them, but after the characters are wiped it should hopefully work better ... it sad that the gamers must start over tho :-/
