Free offer getting pulled as anniversary month ends.
At the beginning of last month, 1up reported that Electronic Arts had kindly decided to offer up the original Command & Conquer for free download on their website. This uncharacteristic move from the giant company was part of the celebration over the franchise's twelfth anniversary.
What they didn't inform 1up of at the time, though, was that the C&C Gold free download was only meant to be available during that month-long span. Opening their hearts just a little wider, EA announced that rather than taking C&C Gold down today as originally planned, the free download will remain available for two more days. After Wednesday, October 3, the game will no longer be found on the Command & Conquer website.
