Knights Of The Old Republic II Restored Content Project Enters Open Beta

Those of you who have played Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords know that the game was shipped before it was complete. There's a lot of unused content on the disc that's just begging to be incorporated into the game. One group of fans has done just that.

Well finally! And this is why I love my PC gaming.

It's only on PC? Oh, come on. I need this. I always hated Obsidian for doing it wrong the first time, but now I need to get this.

Tony P5327d ago

Unfortunately, it's not an official Obsidian thing. It's an unofficial project by fans to restore the official content that's still sitting unused on your KOTOR 2 discs. So it'll be PC only.

Heh, Obsidian would impress me if they actually decided to support a 5 year old game after all this time. It's a nice thought.

@ tony P

i remember reading back when the game first came out that Obsidian wanted to release a patch to tie up the ending to the game but for what ever reason LucasArts wouldn't let them sad really :(

I've found some of the .wav files and scripts online. The complete ending's pretty solid. Shame they didn't get to complete it but if a publisher's not paying them to do it...

I remember being hella disappointed in the xbox version. No ending, crippling framerates, ugh!!!

KotOR II had such potential to over take the original Kotor but thanks to LucasArts wanting to cut the development cycle that did not happen. At least now fans can experience what the full game was supposed to be like.

I was a beta tester for the mod when it was doing internal tests, but some asshole on the beta team leaked the mod to the Pirate Bay so the team had to take all of us off the project.

A still waiting for them to update the Switch version. And also add in the Restoration Mod content. They teased it around launch, but the bug issue probably delayed that.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II Review - Thumb Culture

"You ask any Star Wars fan what their favourite video game is that’s part of the franchise and 9 times out of 10 people will say Knights of the Old Republic. It is regarded as not only one of the best Star Wars games of all time but one of the best RPGs of all time. So it was inevitable that a sequel was going to be released and that’s what we got. But today we take a look at the Nintendo Switch port." Gareth @ Thumb Culture

Isn't the game still broken on Switch? Like ... game breaking glitch broken with no cement time for it being fixed?

I adore Kotor 2.
Consider it highly better than the original.
But the port is apparently broken. How does a broken game deserve a 5/5?

FullmetalRoyale659d ago

You are correct. It's hard to see this as anything other than an example of another half assed review.

Not necessary in the case KOTOR2.... In its original release, those same bugs already exist. The graphic of the later part of the game is so horrible I didn't even finished the game (my PC at that time could played KOTOR 1 beautifully). The non-finishable bug also existed that time, if I remember correctly.
