Plants vs Zombies playable for free online

PopCap has today launched a free version of its excellent tower defence game Plants vs Zombies, playable on the developer's website.

The new, flash-based version of the game has become the company's best selling game since its release earlier in the year. Rightly so, too: Resolution awarded the adorable title a strong 8 out of 10, for its effortless charm and endless entertainment value.

"Plants vs. Zombies is a deceptively deep game that takes awhile to grow on gamers," said Ben Rotholtz, vice president of Marketing at PopCap. "The new Flash-based version will give prospective buyers a way to sample more of the modes and moments that make up the full game experience."

The free version of the game contains three game modes, as well as a new zombie not included in the original version. Its graphics, sound and gameplay are said to remain faithful to the full version of the game.
