Dark Void Delayed to 'Avoid Competition'

Jet pack-tastic action game Dark Void has been delayed into 2010 "to avoid competition with releases of major titles of other companies," publisher Capcom announced today.

This is the second time this game has gotten delayed... I remember Dark Void was displayed at E3 last year, and was supposed to come out last Fall, then it got delayed to 09', now it's pushed to 2010. Basically the game is Gears of War with Jet Packs. For now I'm not expecting too much from this game judging from the gameplay I've seen.

Onimusha 5 or Dino Crisis 4 would be great, instead they put development force into a title they aren't even confident enought to launch against the few great titles that are still coming this year.

Don't get me wrong, I know Uncharted, Ratchet, Forza and COD are still schedulled for this year, but compared to the many games we were hyped for this year that have been moved to the next (God of War, Alan Wake, Heavy Rain, Mass Effect, The Agency, Splinter Cell, Bioshock, Final Fantasy, etc) I don't see this much better time for Dark Void.

This fall is crazy, I am glad games have been push back, I would not have been able to buy them all. There still a ton of games coming that I want to play, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Wet, Rachet and Clank 2, MW2, Uncharted 2, Alpha Protocol (don't sleep on this game), Assassin's Creed 2, GTA 4 DLC, Halo: ODST, Dragon Age: Orgin, Tekken 6, Left 4 Dead 2 and even Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 ( the 4 player online co-op will be insane). These are confirm games that are going to be good, Dark Void did the right thing.

BTW I loved Cod4 sp but come on now you play one of them you play them all. WAW was pretty much COD4 in a different setting. They even had the same slow motion ending similar to cod4 ending. Of getting lost in the holiday shuffle. When people buy gifts for gamers (read: non-gamers/parents) they either buy what they know or what floor people will push on them (read: well established game franchises). With bigger games coming out, especially MW2, smaller games (maybe not small, just not blockbuster) have to worry a bit. If they can push it a few months where it's drier in terms of other games, their visibility is increased exponentially. I don't think it is at all indicative of a lesser quality game (at least in this case).

P.S. - I got Bionic Commando for 20 bucks and I actually enjoy it (like it, not love it)...maybe it's because I was braced for something god awful, maybe it's because I got it cheap, maybe it just speaks to me...but I like it.

Ok I am just as upset as everyone else is about all these delays, but bashing modern warfare 2? Seriously? The sequel to perhaps the greatest FPS this generation by Infinity Ward, is coming 11.10.09! And so what if it looks similar to cod4? oohh as if that was a bad thing LOL! The formula may be the same but they added a bunch new gameplay elements, the set pieces will still be epic, and it will be even more polished the MW. Just like GOW 3. We cant blame the game for being so good and popular, it is how it is and we just have to accept that instead of bashing MW.

well look what happened to Warhawk before Halo 3 launched. Warhawk was a great multiplayer game,people were buying it until Halo 3 came out, and that was in a span of 3 weeks before the launch of Halo 3.

i played the demo at Comic Con, and the game needs A TON of work. no way it would be finished this year anyways, unless they want to push out a crappy game. no they are not delaying to avoid competition, they are delaying to work on the game longer and make it fulcking presentable. honestly i dont even know why they bothered demoing the game at comic-con it was so bad. the potential is there, but the audio was broken, the cut scenes froze up, the graphics are pixlated, the AI was retarded, and the controls were wonky. so its a damn good thing they arnt trying to push its release cause it would be a huge failure.
