November 23, 2004 marks the date that Blizzard unleashed what is now the most successful MMORPG in history. With over 11 million subscribers World of Warcraft raised the bar for MMO development and it continues to be a leader in the genre.
Blizzard Entertainment has announced the opening of beta registrations for “World of Warcraft: The War Within,” inviting players to explore new subterranean worlds beneath Azeroth.

I'm curious to know if the latest expansion increased the subscriber base.
WOTLK sold 2.8 million copies....in a day! It is the fastest selling PC game in history. People came back from War Hammer and Conan.
It is indeed a holy cash cow and it would be interesting to see the increase in new subscribers with the latets expansion.
