GameSpy: Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-slicked Precipice of Darkness, Episode 1 Review

GameSpy writes: "Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik are two fearless friends who took a snarky, irascible writing style and a talent for drawing endearing cartoons and turned it into the "Penny Arcade" mini-empire. Since 1998, the popular Web comic has allowed its two creators to craft an ongoing commentary on the gaming industry and gamer culture that's crude, vulgar, hilarious, occasionally brilliant and often surprisingly profound. When the two decided to try their hand at creating their own game, metaphors about glass houses and rocks were thrown about with wild abandon. Those metaphors, for the most part, can be put to rest. Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-slicked Precipice of Darkness, Episode 1 isn't without its flaws, but as a whole it's a fun, breezy Japanese-style RPG that should please the legions of Tycho and Gabe fans out there."

Pros:
-Fun combat system
-Great art and character design
-Good script
-In-jokes for "Penny Arcade" fans

Cons:
-Not enough "Penny Arcade" personality
-Not enough variety in combat; poor character creator
