As big a deal as a new Banjo-Kazooie title is, it wasn't the only thing 1UP played at Rare last month. 1UP weren't sure they would ever see a true sequel to 2006's bizarrely sublime garden simulator Viva Piñata, given poor sales that didn't live up to the game's critical reception. Trouble in Paradise gets us at least halfway there. It keeps everything from the original intact, while adding an enormous list of new features and functionality.
Trouble in Paradise is both more accessible and deeper where it needs to be -- but where the original faced an uphill battle for its conceptually daring framework, Trouble in Paradise may disappoint fans looking for that same freshness. Either way, it definitely sets out to be the ultimate version of a game that never quite got the chance it deserved.
