Latest Famitsu Review Scores, Ratchet & Clank Reviewed

Ratchet & Clank as well as Mario Party DS reviewed in the latest issue of Famitsu. It looks like Super Mario Galaxy has some competition this Christmas as R&C only scored two points less than SMG.

1.1 - the 40gig + price cut

HS has 30 000 pre-orders already

expect R&C to sell 100k in its launch week.

LAIR has sold around 40k so far which is not bad for a western oriented game in JAPAN

BUT white ps3 will turn the tides for SONY in JAPAN. It is cheap and most japanese seems to like it

2.1 - EU and JAPAN are SONY biased

although u dont get to hear it but Japanese gamers are actually waiting for the ps3. The only thing that distracted them was the price. with a new lower price i expect ps3 to completely turn tides in Japan for SONY

But Mario is....humm...kind of really really old!! I don't give a damn about Mario and Mario Galaxy...it looks uninteresting to me!

On the other hand R&C is a relatevly fresh idea compared to Mario and is a much better platformer in my opinion!!

Call me whatever you want....I grew out of Mario...it's been a while since I was 7 years old!

That great, it hows that Insomniac is well renouned even in Japan. ^^ a western dev is freakin doing it big in Japan and they loved it. i even saw the ratchet and clank JP comercial it was pretty good.

If you look they actually design Ratchet differently for the Japanese market. I also saw the Japanese commercial and thought it was quite lacking... could've been better.

That's why I like the Official Playstation Magazine UK. They're not afraid to give 10s to games. Examples of PS2 games which they gave 10s to, which other reviewers would disagree with are Timesplitters 2, Several of the pro evos, Burnout Revenge, Black and Okami. They're not saying that these games are perfect, because there's no such thing as a perfect game. Instead, it builds a list of top class games which anyone will undoubtedly enjoy, and which all gamers should own.

ratchet = 9/10 on metacritics (32 reviews !!!), gamerankings.

and like i said before, mario galaxy on ps3, even with a 10 for gameplay, can't score a total 9/10, with old gen graphics.

all the latest Mario games pretty much sucked, the last good Mario i remember was Super Mario World on Snes and maybe Paper Mario on N64, i'll take Ratchet over Mario anytime.

complete nonsense and you know it. Nintendo has become way too complacent and now are reduced to gimmicks and are now nothing but a niche company. They throw out the cheapest most dated hardware, turn a quick profit and keep spinning the same tired franchises over and over.

I played Every Mario game and I loved them all, including Mario Sunshine, but this Galaxy with it's dated graphics and shallow gameplay has made me lost all interest in Nintendo made games.

They only game I have the slightest interest in now is SMB but I won't pay $249 for a Gamecube with a wand controller just to play it.

I used to love Mario in the 80s and 90s, but I've moved on in my old age. ratchet and clank have more of an edge, and more personality. plus the rpg elements are what really propel the game-play into the stratosphere... hopefully now, after all the great reviews, the franchise will get the credit it deserves...

To all the people who bash Mario, all I can say is how Dare you. This Franchise is a classic, so what if the stupid-a$$ princess gets kidnapped for the millionth time. The gameplay has always been about implementing new ideas into a genre that basically started gaming and in that regard they have always succeeded. This is like bashing Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones cause you got older and prefer the sound of Nu-Metal or Death Metal or God forbid EMO!!. Mario is a franchise that has always managed to stay fresh with gameplay and thats where it counts. and just for the Record I love the Ratchet and Clank series one of the best ever made in all of gaming.

Famitsu ranked R&C 36 / 40.

Just to note, this score would be inline with what you're seeing from R&C on metacritic.

To contrast, Famitsu gave Halo 3 37 / 40 and Blue Dragon 37 / 40. Not platform games, but just so you know, they liked BD & H3 more than R&C... discuss.
