1 - Final Fantasy 8

For me all part from final fantasy was good

But i thing that is number 1 is final fantasy 8 because its really a good game nice story nice game play and nice for every thing sound gravis animation action every thing .....

And i like to say that the final fantasy one of the game i will never die and i will keep playing it until it no more part of final fantasy

FF7,8,9 and FF3 (the one on SNES) are equally good for me. Perhaps 7 is the best but then again 8 was really brilliant as well.

I've been playing FF since the beginning and for me it's a toss up between FF6(FF3 in the US) and FF Tactics. Tactics is not part of the mainstream FF series but I've played through that game at least 4 times. Each time taking around 60 hours. I haven't put that much time in any other FF game. I think that FF8 is the worst for me. I couldn't even finish the game. The Job System and the Sphere System from FFX were my favorite for building characters.

Edit: I just realized how old this article is, wow. Who pulled this one out of the vault?

VI (or III) should be #1. VII should be 2 and X should be 3... lets see how close i am..

EDIT: pretty close.... i'm incredibly happy that VI was #1, just because it was by far the best experience in the whole series. forgot about XII all together.. haha

but over all, great list

whoever made this article has no history of final fantasy. FF6 and FF7 are arguably the best ones, followed by FF8...then any of the others...maybe FF4 after, damn this list pissed me off lol

I for one hate that FF9 beat out FF7 and FF8. I never liked 9. I was not a fan of the big heads. For me it was just backtracking and not going forward at all.

This list is a joke. Especially considering that FFVII(only Final Fantasy on the list) is one of the top 10 games of all time according to reviews and player surveys on GameFaq.

11 - Wow My favorite RPG

Final Fanatasy VII(nuff said), That game did a lot for the genre, and brought masses to the PS brand, including moi.

Final Fantasy VIII was also good, and I know, but I also liked Final Fantasy IX(not many people did I know, but it brought it back to the roots of medieval era).

Final Fantasy X was also great.

See I collect RPG OST's as well as other Videogames, so I like a lot of Tracks for 7, 9, and 10. Currently playing 12, and it's rather different with the battles system.

I miss the Random battles. Not knowing what your going to see or expect made it enjoyable in certain parts of the games. Now you see everything walking around shootin the sh!t, then you engage. I hate it how other Monsters, butt their nose in your battles and all the sudden your fighting a battel you didn't ask for.

Anyhow I still have Mixed feelings, the game looks great tho, I think it might be the last game I buy for the PS2. I'm moving on.

12 - I'm not accusing anybody of being too young...

but I agree completely with the list. I've played all the FF's at the time of their original releases, and FF6 was by far the most advanced for it's time, even more so then seven. FF7 started a new generation of RPG'ers because of it's greatness, but FF6 was the better game (again...for the time)

Don't like it. Not because the 7 is not #1 (though I wish it were) is the fact that they state that the graphic and grammer problem don't hold up very well(on 7). But the #1 on their list is a re-released remastered version of that game. If you really want to compare they should all be judged on the orignal release of that game.

FF12 and 9 sucked donkey balls. After FFX, final fantasy has been declining in quality i'm afraid. Square enix's new motto is style over substance. Graphics are amazing but story, plot and characters are sorely lacking. Look at number 12, the only memorable character was Batheir beacuse he was unique and stood out from the rest, Vaan was a terrible lead character, he had no presence or personality. The FF12 story was also crap as well as the ending. But the graphics were the best of all FF's(Except 13 of course). This is my main fear for Final fantasy 13.

Just because SE is trying a new style doesn't mean it's getting worse. I'm sorry you missed "zomg, evil guy trying to destroy world, lets go beat his ass" with the main lead that wields large swords. Vaan was just a character magnet (main reason why 90% of the group joined); Ashe/Balthier/Basch were the main leads. Either way, opinions =/

Jeezus! This is GameDaily's list, not yours. I bet no one in this comment section will have the same list. They are called opinions people. Otherwise, they would be facts. Some internet site's top 10 list in no way reflects popular opinion, and especially not your opinion. Oh FFX was your favorite? Guess what? Alot would agree, alot wouldn't. Start your own site and dedicate your top 10, so when (if) it makes it on n4g, people can tare it apart.

Edit: oh and at least your favorite is on the list. I don;t know the exact number of FF games that are available in North America, but its not far from 10.

25 - why FF7 should be in 1st...

easy...was the 1st one to have FMV in series...FF6 had only in remake for ps1...
had great characters...

was the 1st one in 3D...

had an easy, simple and great combat system...

was beautiful with a great story...

it was the one made people know FF outside japan...

was very addictive...

had sephiroth...

was the biggest one

was the one who made people fans of FFseries...

was sentimental... and aeris died:( lol

like someone said it had knights of round:P

and no other FF will be like it...and never was

and everybody who likes FF know this one is special...

was the only one that have right for a movie (advent children)

Just wondering, but:
- why does Sephiroth make the game better? He really wasn't that great of a villian; heck, Ultimecia and Kuja were far better.
- Actually, FFI was the "biggest" one; it was SquareSoft's last hope
- This game isn't special; sure it had some achevments but the flaws really damaged it
- And Advent Children sucked

Square: Hey, why don't we milk FFVII with a crappy movie that destroys Cloud's 'character developments' and adds stupid villans that have no point other than adding incest plus returning our best character, Sephiroth?

but if FF7 is not no.1 then the list is utter BS. I personally think FF7 is the best GAME ever made, and its definately widely agreed its the best RPG ever made. A film was made of it for crying out loud, how more popular can you get?

My list would consist of:

1.FF7
2.FF8
3.FF10

...and i haven't played the others properly. Some of em bored me

But from reading the comments i hear FF7 was not no.1 and FF9 beat it. That's why this list is laughable. Not even worth reading and im sure the general gaming population would disagree with those results

And everything REbirth said is spot on. PLUS FF7 has some of the coolest moments in videogame history. The Weapons that attack Midgar and Junon come to mind

Oh god, do you even understand opinions? The "entire gameing population" will or won't disagree with you. It's just opinions; nothing says FFVII was the best game ever made. Plus AC was laughable. Yeah, I'll agree the WEAPONs scene was awesome but still I liked Xenogear's moments better (before the dreaded Disk 2)

Your "knowledge" of gaming is non-existant since you haven't even experienced the games. FFVII is just a highly overrated game thanks to the numerous fans. Sure it brought RPGs into mainstream and had good graphics (way back in the days) but the characters were shallow and the battle system was screwed. Of course, this is my OPINION not law.

A very old, and common phrase in the north eastern United States (and many other parts too I'm sure)says this: Opinions are just like a$$holes, everyone has one and they all stink.

This is exactly that, an opinion. There is no way that a list of "Top 10 FF games" could be made without somebody throwing in an opinion. Most of us will have different views on the top 10 list which is OK.

Definataly 7. The characters were great, story was great, everything was great. 8 comes pretty close though.

About 9, well it seemed like it was a little more kid oriented. It was okay though. I still beat it.
