Too many phenomenal games that came out this year to single one out for overall game of the year. It must be broken into categories and even some of those feel like there isn't one deciding game that should win it outright.

MGS4 looks like a shoo-in for pretty much every category it's nominated in. I own all the nominated RPGs, except Persona 4, and I don't even have to play the game to see that it should easily take that award.

Who I think these awards belong too.

Game of the Year
-Metal Gear Solid 4 (Seriously, I don't think you can find a better story in a video game then in the MGS series. The way Kojima managed to put all 4 MGS Game story lines into one game is pure genius. Graphics are out of this world and is one of the 1st testaments to showing off the PS3's power as a games machine. Game play is pure fun, I love being a stealth assassin hunting down Liquid and those PMCs. Online was ok and was a good effort to this gen. Metal Gear Solid 4 has got to me the most emotional, story driven, action packed, game I've ever played so far in video games. Though I've never played MGS before until this game came out it's making want to go back and the play the other games it's that good.)

-Most Original Game
Little Big Planet (The concept to this game is so cool. You can create your own sack boy/girl, build levels and post them online, play multiplayer w/ friends on PSN, and get addicted for hours.)

-Best Game play Innovation:
Little Big Planet "Level Creation/sharing."

-Best multiplayer:
Gears of War 2 (I love horde it's hella fun. It's the bloodiest game so far this gen. Multiplayer is fun from capture the flag where your flag is a person and you use him as a meat shield. Gears of War 2 is just a fun game for me period.)

-Best Action/Adventure Game:
Metal Gear Solid 4 (Like I said above the game is fun to play and it's very action packed and emotional which I like a lot.)

-Best Sports Game:
Madden 2009 (Great game to play w/ friends, has great graphics, it's very realistic w/ the plays, and it's a fun game to play if you like or love foot ball.

-Best Shooter Game:
Call of Duty: WAW (Now this was a really close match between this game and Resistance 2 but I like this game better. I felt the controls were a lot more fluid then COD4's controls especially the sniper rifle. It has a great story like always WWII is a good topic for a shooter game. Graphics really surprised me I was playing this game on PS3 and damn at times I think it's better then COD4 simply because of the color pallet. Treyarch is a great job this time around now then their disappointing COD3 game they did a couple years back.)

-Best RPG:
Fable 2 (I'm a fan from the previous game and I thought Lionhead Studios did a great job at offering a great experience for the new Fable 2 game. Co Op Mode is pretty fun when your able to join other people's worlds and have adventures with them. Overall this is the best RPG Game I've played this year and is a must have game for any gamer who owns a Xbox 360.)

-Best New Character:
Drebin 893 (Metal Gear Solid 4): Gotta love this guy best person to get weapons from in any game and is pet monkey is funny.
Damn Monkeys!!!!!!!!! :O

-Best Art Direction:
Metal Gear Solid 4: Just the whole character modeling behind Snake, Liquid, Meryll, and Vamp in general are just stunning. The bosses are simply amazing.

-Psycho Mantis
-Metal Gear Ray
(My favorite boss was Metal Gear Ray cuz in that boss battle you get to play and fight in a Metal Gear yourself Metal Gear Rex.)

-Best Writing:
Metal Gear Solid 4 (It's not even a contest here. Kojima is the best writer the video game industry has ever seen and probably will ever see for a really ling time.)

-Best Original Soundtrack:
Metal Gear Solid 4 (Just like the previous games MGS has always had the best music and it still holds true today w/ the theme song.)

-Best Sound Design:
Metal Gear Solid 4 (I swear is the best game so far w/ pure action and explosions. Period. Everything is just balanced.)

-Best Downloadable Content:
Rock Band 2 (Harmony just has great music to pick from on the DLC and plenty to do and unlock. It's a rock band party that will never end.)

-Best New Downloadable Game:
Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty (That's got to be the best value for your money downloadable game I've ever played and bought. The game itself takes place after Ratchet & Clank Future so if your a Ratchet & Clank like I am it's worth your money. The best thing is about this game is that you don't need the Ratchet & Clank Future game in order to play it. Just download and play and for $15 not bad.

-Best Strategy Game:
Tom Clancy's End War (It's really innovative and it's really got me into strategy games. You play the game as if it's a chess game you make moves but at the same time your the general and you command your troops on screen using either a Xbox Live Head set, a Playstation Eye Camera, or a Blu-tooth head set which is really cool.)

-Best Racing Game:
Motorstorm 2: Pacific Rift (It's the best racing game I've ever played next to Gran Turismo. I think it's fun, the campaign is good, graphics are amazing especially when you crash or mind gets on the screen when your racing through mud which is fun and cool at the same time.)

-Best Music/Rhythm Game:
Guitar Hero World Tour (I like it better then Rockband simply because there's a custom music sound track setting to where you can implement and put and play your music in the game or upload it online for oter people to play.)

-Best Handheld Game:
God of War: Chains of Olympus (Best handheld hack and slash game I've played so far on a portable console.)
Kratos: "There will only be chaos."

Those are my picks for the 2008 X Play awards this year.
I made them as fair as possible and since I'm a multiple console user I can judge fairly and honestly.
