Japan: Nintendo Sells 820k+ Software in One Week, Sony 290k

Media Create Sales: 11/17 - 11/24

The latest Media Create Top 30 has been released and it appears that Japan has forgiven Nintendo for Wii Music and has instead decided to have a little party of "let's buy everything that we can!"

Between Animal Crossing: City Folk, Chrono Trigger DS, and several others, Nintendo moved more than eight-hundred thousand units of software in one week.

The anticipated 360 RPG The Last Remnant (SE) had a great week at 100k, and Namco Bandai's Gundam v Gundam did extremely well at 267k.

The PS3 was nearly shut out of the top 10 but was able to squeak in with Way of the Samurai 3 at around 20k.

That top 15 Wii games chart only has one game from a 3rd party. Read: only one game from a 3rd party has sold more than 260k on the Wii!!

There are two 3rd party games they list. Also I am curious as to what point you were trying to make.. Can you even name off a great 3rd party game for Wii? You just seem intent on pointing out the obvious that most every else already knows. 3rd party software at this point just doesnt compare to 1st party games. That tends to happen though when the console owner has faith in the system from the beginning and 3rd parties get got empty handed and dont do anything to fix that til 6 months after launch

I completely disagree with your opinion...LBP is targeted to everybody and believe it or not i think the game suits more to the hardcore gamer. The game is hard for the "casual" player after the first couple of levels, but it's so cute that it appeals to them too. Graphically the game is astounding too, it just didn't get the marketing it deserved from Sony, but by the end of this gen LBP will be one of the biggest sellers...

Just face it LBP is for EVERYONE,... i do know how hard it is for u sony guys to comprehend this, i feel for u. ooh even KIDS might play it (look out....coz u know..kids dont play the cOmPleX ps3...*cough*)

U could say the same thing about super mario bros too. It starts off easy as, but progressively gets harder. Now that game was meant for EVERYONE (it came with the system..for kids to play when they got the NES).

Just coz something starts off easy then gets hard (like u said LBP does)...doesnt mean its a "hardcore" game only. I really hate these terms "hardcore" and "casual"...they are so mixed up in meaning (especially on this site) they have no value.

I think the adults in japan are too busy watching Hentai and buying used panties from the coin-op machines. Kids buy all these games like animal crossing etc.

I think he was commenting on the 360 game that sold 5 times more than the first PS3 game on the list.

Then again, celebrating 360 success in Japan is similar to cheering for the Special Olympics. You're really doing it to make yourself feel better, not them.

hmmm a JRPG from Square selling well in it's first week? who would have thought! and these numbers are nothing to cheer about, GTA IV (a sandbox openworld game e.g. NOT a JRPG from Square) sold 130K in it's first week, I know you probably heard this like a million times, but white knight chronicles will destroy the 360 in terms of hardware sales and software sold(i mean, even more than it is now)
