1UP: Drawn to Life: SpongeBob Square Pants Edition Review

1UP writes: "The original Drawn to Life added a twist to traditional platformer gameplay by letting you (or in most cases outright forcing you to) draw and name many bits and pieces of the game, most notably its protagonist. It's one year later, and the game's back with a shiny new coat of paint from the SpongeBob SquarePants universe; it's a fine idea in theory, but this paint-by-numbers platformer face-plants when trying to capture any of the show's charm.

The premise of Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition is expectedly ludicrous: Goofball starfish Patrick draws an angry-looking version of SpongeBob named "DoodleBob," who comes to life and immediately begins to run amok, kidnapping the residents of Bikini Bottom and smearing the world with inky goo. SpongeBob and Patrick decide to combat this diabolical doodle with a drawing of their (your) own: DoodlePants. DoodlePants then springs to action thanks to Drawn to Life's brilliant animation system (it makes the moving parts of your created character look natural), and you're off to free DoodleBob's prisoners and clean up the mess he's created."
