Breaking: Dragon Quest IX coming early 2009

Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada was interviewed by Jiji Press and stated that "The next Dragon Quest title will be released early next year".

Please don't remind me that it's coming for the DS. <shake my head>

A major popular franchise like that should have come out on a console, even the Wii would have been a better choice. If they wanted to make a DS version it should have been just a spin-off, not the next main installment.

Such an amazing game on the PS2- DQ8 was a ton of fun and for them to not bring it to ps360 is just a bummer. I can wait till 10- or 9.5 or whatever, but i'd like to think there's some sort of feasible answer for why its only on the DS, besides the obvious.....less production costs and guaranteed mega market---- I guess it's turned into PayolaQuestIX.

If Atlus did it at least it would have a mature storyline. I'm starting to tire of SE bubble gum plot themes. It's like they're totally just trying to please the kiddies nowadays, jeez!
