This has collectors item written all over it. EA will probably produce only a few thousand copies, and this will almost certainly be the last game ever release for XBOX. 5 years from now, it could be as rare as college hoops 2k3 for Gamecube, or even Panzer Dragoon Saga for Dreamcast. Final games in a system's lifecycle usually end up as collectors items.

MS dropped support for the xbox way to early. The big black box was just starting to really show it's superiority to the PS2, graphically anyway. Games like Black and Burnout on the xbox completely trashed anything else available at the time. Then MS up and drops support for it what, like 2 or 3 years after we all spent $400 on the stupid thing? Jerk move IMO. I wish more companies were still supporting it.

It is odd, however, that EA would totally drop support for the system for 2 years, then just up and make a new game for it out of nowhere.

Black was on the PS2 as well, but it looked like sh!t compared to the Xbox version. Same goes for all the Burnout games.

I couldn't think of any exclusives at the time, but I guess Farcry fits the bill. That game would not have been possible without some serious compromise on the PS2.

I'm not dissing the PS2. I loved it, but the xbox clearly had a lot of life left in it when MS ditched it. More life than the PS2 and look how that thing is still selling.

Burnout was only PS2 exclusive for a few months, then it came out on Gamecube & Xbox. But yeah, Black & Burnout were also on PS2. In fact, the only non-handheld Burnout game that wasn't on PS2 is the newest one, which is exclusive to the hi-def platforms (PS3, 360, and Windows).

screwed microsft when they refused to produce the gpu that the Xbox was using that is why they stop producing them so early actually the Xbox was selling decently at the 150.00 price tag and alot of the games that were coming out were really good

What the heck?! The Original Xbox has been dead for years and now Madden 09 is coming to the Xbox? I haven't even seen a store that still sells brand new Original Xbox games.... I guess it just goes to show that EA really are money whores if they are willing to release a game on a dead system.

At first it didn't make since, if you are going to release it on Xbox why not Gamecube?

Well Gamecube had two online games, Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II and Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution...which both games the servers have been shut off...While the Xbox still has games running like Halo 2, Burnout 3 and so on and I would guess that there are still enough people playing Madden 08 to justify a port to the Xbox.

It'd be interesting to see what they can pump out of the Xbox 1 this late. Then again, the team working on it must not be doing a whole lot... come on, who will play it? lol. Really though, you'd be surprised by how many people play Halo 2 on an original Xbox (look at their gamertags to see they only own a Xbox).
