Jolt Review: Teenage Zombies - Invasion of the Alien Brain Thingys

Jolt writes: "Teenage Zombies: Invasion of the Alien Brain Thingys is a platform game with a quirky comic book style. From what we can gather, an alien race has invaded Earth, attaching themselves to the brains of poor folk and killing everything. Fortunately for us, a group of teenage zombies are ready to fend them off. This is where you come in, taking control of all three teenage zombies at once, switching between them to utilize their unique abilities that come into play during any situation. It's a decent premise, akin to The Lost Vikings on older systems, but does it live up to it?

Well, yes and no. Teenage Zombies is a decent enough platformer with a few twists and tricks to offer you, but at the same time it can feel downright sluggish to control – admittedly because you're controlling the undead. It might sound a little unfair that we're criticizing a game where you control zombies for feeling sluggish, but this is a platformer and we want it to be quick and fluid, not slow and cumbersome. Taking control of the game for the first time, you're tasked with guiding a lanky girl-zombie across the terrain and you'd be forgiven for thinking that it's not going to get any better. Fortunately, it does. A tutorial is moulded into the initial stage (again, something we're not overly keen on, but it is done very well), with instructions printed on comic book style text boxes, which actually form part of the level itself."
