Well, I think it's for the best anyways even though I wanted Activision to lose the case. But we weren't [most likely] given the full details or honest truths on either side, so I can't remain too biased. Hopefully, we can learn more about their settlement.

zeal0us4380d ago (Edited 4380d ago )

I doubt we will ever know the truth for either sides.

@Hufandpuf
Think it was Activision the ones that settle more than EA. First they was asking for extension due hiring a different lawyer. Then this whole mess about hiring some guy to hack West and Zampella computer to get dirt on them.

My guess is after Thomas Fenady testified about what he did for Activision, Activision didn't want to take a chance of getting into serious trouble so they wanted to settle.

Hiring someone to hack is just as bad as hacking something yourself.

The settlement must been good for Zampella/West/EA to agree, instead of pursuing this lawsuit any further. Not to mention legal fees for both sides is probably was stacking up.

GraveLord4380d ago (Edited 4380d ago )

West and Zampella haven't settled with Activision.
Only EA did.

Considering Activision was the one suing EA, it looks like EA is the one who payed up. You don't sue someone and then, say "forget about it, we were wrong, here's a couple million and lets forget this ever happened".

You settle when you want to avoid the truth coming out to the public. The truth is EA has had their share of bad publicity and they can't afford any more.

@Pekolie
Employees are free to leave whenver they want unless you are on a contract, which Vince and Zampella were. The contract states they aren't allowed to meet with other companies while working for Activison. According to Activision, Vince and Zampella violated that rule on top of being bad employees and forcing Activision to fire them.(allegedly)

Hufandpuf4380d ago

I wonder why Zampella didn't go for everything. It must have been a good settlement deal.

TekoIie4380d ago (Edited 4380d ago )

Acti's reason for sewing was ridiculous anyway.

Activision, YOU dont own your employee's. If they want to leave your company they can. This isnt syndicate ffs... Hold on a minute... EA made that game lol.

venom064380d ago

West and Zampella didn't settle anything ... this was ONLY EA and Activistion... West and Zampella still get the chance to kick Activision is the teeth!! West and Zamp FTW!!

WeskerChildReborned4380d ago

Activision sure has alot of problems with people eh? I mean their's them having to pay the ex developers of MW2 and their getting sued by Novalogic.

Aye just call Phil, i mean he somehow made Bobby Kotick's scandal disappear and gave him a few million dollar high five on the way out.

Cacabunga1d 17h ago

I wonder if it will be censored with some in game ads.

XiNatsuDragnel1d 23h ago (Edited 1d 23h ago )

EA about to go down like Activision and then Phil saves the day saying.this is good for the industry and consolidation will help create competition. /s.

What's up with all these horny creeps. You gon be horny, fine. Just not at work take care of that shit before you go in. Rub one out if you have to. Don't be a creep at all. ESPECIALLY at work. But don't be one AT ALL.

Extermin8or3_1d 16h ago

I mean part of the issue is that things transpired outside of work....

KwietStorm_BLM1d 16h ago

You think deviants care where they are? Work sometimes makes it an even better situation for them because they can abuse their power.

mudakoshaka1d ago

Nerds think they are Gods when they are making video games.

NotoriousWhiz1d 21h ago (Edited 1d 21h ago )

"it seems that according to EA, given the events transpired outside of work between two adults, and the fact that once investigation has started that the alleged perpetrators didn’t do it again, the investigation is considered closed. [...] The victim still has to work with the people that harassed her."

Yep, EA is disgusting.

Extermin8or3_1d 16h ago

I mean the fact stuff happened outside of work puts EA in quite a difficult position legally. These women don't seem to have reported the matter to the police which kinda ties EA's hands on what they can do. If they don't file reports of the crimes then yeah from EA's perspective it is stuff that happened outside of work. The only exception is the guy that apparently referenced things in the slack channel for work, spending on what he said proving it may be very hard and he may well be able to get away with plausible deniability. I don't like EA and I think these people need to be dismissed but without any legal action being taken, EA can't really do much without risk of being sued themselves for unfair dismissal etc.

Another L for Xbox, when are they going to have good news?

MrDead3d ago

I would read the article but the giant pop-ups from the top and bottom of the screen made me close it.

Without reading $23.4 million isn't a deterrent for a company that size.

Boss: Let's fire a few people to recoup on that loss.
Slave: Cortana has decided to get rid of Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks.
Boss: Let's get those Firing Letters "Copilot Approved" and send them through the power of the cloud.
Slave: Long Live Phil !!!
ALL in the room: LONG LIVE PHIL !!!!

Well, anything to make those shareholders happy, I guess. They're all that matters in this industry nowadays.
