PSU.com celebrates Akira Yamaoka's classic Silent Hill 3 anthem.

Tracks like this, I Want Love, Please Love Me...Once More, Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me; Rain of Brass Petals, etc. make this game what it is.

what made this game was its story and characters. its the last decent silent him IMO.

Love this tune. More than the game lol.

I enjoyed the vocal tracks, but felt they overdid it in SH4 and to some extent, SH3. The games got increasingly commercial after 3 and when the movie came out, forget it, they used that as 'cannon' for the future games. It's interesting how the Alternate World emerges from normality but...I'd like devs, if they are going to continue searching for that perfect SH, more-so Konami;to use some originality, but also for them to use SH1-3 as the base for the catalyst as well, when developing a SH game.
Honestly... I wish Team Silent were still developing the series with enough time and money to make a masterpiece reminiscent of the classic Three.

I love the voice of Mary Elizabeth McGlynn in the Silent Hill Series and Shadows OF The Damned. Her voice is both haunting and serene in my opinion which plays the best personification of hope during the story.

I love the ambience just as much, my favourites being (in no particular order)

- Steel Insanity (Silent Hill IV)
- Winged Death (Silent Hill)
- My Justice For You (Silent Hill)
- Warped Mind (Silent Hill 2)
- On Corticosteroids (Silent Hill III)

I mostly disagree with Downpour's position. Yeah, the game is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but is much better than the HD Collection and Homecoming. The main issue is the performance, but that was mitigated by the patches, especially on the PS3. Personally, I put it a little behind Origins and The Room.

Having Restless Dreams as a different entry from Silent Hill 2 is also a choice.

Normally, we would not consider it a different game (Restless Dreams), but since it had a very different critical reception and had new content, it was allowed. As for Downpour, I would agree, but since that one is subjective, we let him make his case for the placement.

silent hill 2 is definitely the best one out of those.

for me personally, the whole ritual/cult stuff was always so weird to me in all the other games.

CrimsonWing69200d ago

No disrespect but I put SH2 over 1. 1 is fantastic, but 2 took it all up a level.

bfrye26200d ago

We agree, that is why the writer put it in top place!

Happy 20th anniversary, Silent Hill 3

20 years later, hell welcomes back Heather Mason, and it’s good of you to join her; it can get pretty lonely there.

The atmosphere in this game is so damn unmatchless. I wish I could erase everything about it in my mind and replay it again

GaboonViper281d ago

The showdown with Leonard Wolf in the basement still gives me chills.

Even though I am not paying an arm and a leg price for the PS2 port. I played it on PS3 minus the hiccups I enjoyed SH3 and had fun getting the platinum trophy for it. Hope the SH2 remake is good enough to get SH3 remade.
