Why I never, ever want to play Bayonetta 2

OXM UK: "Never look back, Kamiya-san. Iterating on Bayonetta would do Bayonetta's shattered brilliance a disservice."

NYC_Gamer4381d ago

I wasn't a fan of the first game to be honest

dirigiblebill4381d ago

It's definitely an acquired taste. Did you dislike it because of the style, or the mechanics? Because I'd say the mechanics are flawless.

Lucretia4381d ago

bayonetta was being worked on before actually, but they stopped it because they didnt wanna animate her hair summoning attacks in the time frame namco gave project soul.

Project soul asked for 6 more months and namco said "Eff u, ur lucky we are even letting u make this game"

the story is only 25% of what the director planned, they even have recorded voices for the other parts of the story, even some un-used cutscenes. its possible it may come out eventually tho since the director does want to release it.

especially since it isnt clear about Raphael being the nightmare thats in the game and viola being amy

I agree. I'm not a big fan of the hack'n slash genre. Hate God of War, dislike Devil May Cry. But I loved Bayonetta. Its mechanics are the best among its genre.

And I also loved the style. I thought I would hate it, but it was so different and fun that I ended up loving it. The dance scene was the icing on the cake.

Frankfurt4381d ago

Then you don't like real action games, plain and simple. Character dsign and writing in Bayonetta was awful, but gameplay was the apex of the genre this gen.

You can always go back to simplistic ones like God of War, or even worse, 30fps ones. There are plenty of those.

NYC_Gamer4381d ago (Edited 4381d ago )

Yeah....i don't like real action games just because dislike Bayonetta....oh wait where is the "Real Gamer" tag line.....you're that defensive of the game that u had to mention God of War?

Nitrowolf24381d ago

Wow I didn't like Bayonetta so much either, but that doesn't mean I don't like action games.
There really is no such thing as a "real action game".
Also I don't see how God of War is any less of an action adventure game then Bayonetta was. Just because GOW doesn't have the depth of combos that it had doesn't mean it's less of a game. And yeah writing is why i like GOW more.

I accept that it was a good game, just not for me.

dirigiblebill4381d ago

Gentlemen, gentlemen - no squabbling please. Agree to disagree ;)

Bayonetta's appearance in Anarchy Reigns suggests there's life in the franchise yet. Wonder if she'll ever show up in Soul Calibur - wasn't that rumoured at one point?

Even though the combat was good i hated every other aspect of bayonetta; story, characters, music, and voice acting.

Lucretia4381d ago

as good as the gameplay was, the story was balls, I hated ever single character except for Mini Bayonetta.

I would rather see a new action game instead of a bayonetta 2. the characters are just so lame and annoying

Moby-Royale4381d ago

I feel like you could have used a more appropriate word...

b_one4381d ago

I could, but when i saw this game for a first time it was so horrible... that R word gives a right felling...

@scotchmouth feel free to read it as you like or can...

anyway Bubbles out, if they make this game, i wont be so optimistic...

scotchmouth4381d ago

Was I supposed to read this in a russian accent? Because I did

Gow isnt less of an action game , it's just a different breed , wich is why the comparisons from both DMC styled games or Gow styles games fans are ludicrous .

GoW decided to be an hybrid , focusing on the cinematic and story aspect of such games , while giving a modicum of action challenge .

DMC/Bayonetta (and older NG games) decided to go the hardcore and full on gameplay and mechanics based aspect , leaving the rest as cosmetics .

Both style doesnt mean one can't enjoy gows gameplay , or that one might not enjoy DMC or bayonetta's presentation and story .

And now we also have a 3rd breed , with mostly story and cinematic driven games , as seen with Heavenly sword and Enslaved .

The only issue is when any of the three style is forced down your throat on every franchises , instead of proposing the same usual variety of titles .

There have been MANY series and franchises that are excellent with great sequels and they can not become great series without more than one game obviously. In modern gaming, GOW 2 is better than 1. COD:MW is better than the three before it. The new Batman is better than the first. These are just a few examples.

I do not buy into writing off a character and universe after one game. I say let it mature and polish it up and see where it takes us.
