New Game Releases - May 2012

GXC: "April was a pretty slow month but May will make up for that dry spell with a bounty of big titles. There will be some games that you do not want to miss. For example Max Payne 3, Diablo III, Starhawk, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier just to name a few. Here’s a list of your most notable retail store releases for the month of May 2012."

I have to spend my money wisely and moderately so I may only be able to pick up one or two games this month.

I'm leaning towards Starhawk and maybe Resistance Burning Skies.

But I may get Diablo III and Dragon's Dogma too. I'll have to wait and see. The other games like Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Max Payne, I would like to play but I'll have to wait until another time to get them.

There is one to three games every week that I will be picking up. I started paying the games off slowly this past month.

May 1st is Mortal Kombat.
May 8th is StarHawk.
May 15th is Max Payne and Game of thrones.
May 22nd is Ghost Recon, Sorcery and Dragon's Dogma.
May 29th is Resistance.

I have a full month ahead of me.

I am considering Dragons Dogma... Unsure if I will get anything new in May overall.

Max Payne is kinda iffy, mostly cause I am about sick of shooters right now. And I am gonna wait for some reviews of Sorcery before I rush out to grab it.

Everything after diablo 3 is not even on my radar anymore. I ll be happily in love with diablo 3 for the next 11 years as I was with diablo 2. I still pick up a AAA ps3 exclusive here and there but ill wait for the inevitable $29.99 price drop on those. Only other must have is tuesday mk vita which i have pre-ordered to keep me busy until D3

Starhawk over Warhawk?...... Dude, NO ONE should listen to you.

Odd choices for "best" more like you settled as these being the "best" that available to you at the time, cause a lot of these blow or were average to poor performers that ended up in bargain bin.

Missing too many great sci-fi titles here. The Void, The Resistance Series, Killzone 2 and 3, Enslaved, man.. there were so many, this is redicu-list.

Nobody should listen to you either with that attitude.

I agree that Starhawk shouldn't be above Warhawk, however I must say that Starhawk multiplayer was incredible for its time! Many people wrote it off bc the single player was quite terrible, bc it was basically 1 huge tutorial for the multiplayer. But I can tell you never spent any significant amount of time in MP. It was doing incredibly tense base building w air, foot and land vehicle (and mech!) combat long before Fortnite was ever a thing.

I bet it would have been much better received if it had just ditched the story mode all together. So many people like yourself completely wrote it off based on reviews by reviewers that let the criticism of single player weigh heavily on their scores. I bet you didn't even play it.

The riddick games are some of the best stealth titles ever, highly underrated

What games? All recall plating was Escape from Butcher Bay.

There's also the less acclaimed 'assault on dark Athena'

( also, not saying this to you specifically but there's both resistance and killzone games on the list, it's amazing how even something so simple and innocent as a game list can be turned into misinformed vitriol here lol )

Glad to see Resonance of Fate. Enslaved was pretty good too. I’m sure there are others nobody has listed but I’m too tired to try and think of anything

Dragon's Dogma Is Still Amazing

Although the sequel is on the near horizon, the original Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen remains a fantastic action RPG, still worth playing.

A lot of the quest lines in Skyrim are good(not all and they don’t add up as a whole if you do thieves guild mage fighters guild etc) The dragons are very lame after the first few times and the combat is clunky as it always has been. The stupid sprint button is ridiculous.

Overall I agree DD is the better rpg game.

Both have theirs strengths and weaknesses but Skyrim should be so much more being the 5th game in Elder Scrolls series.

Excited to see what they add on to DD 2.

Unfortunately all they have done to Elder Scrolls since Morrowind is take things out (minus the sprint button which is so lame because you can kill dragon god like creatures but can’t run for more than ten seconds without getting tired)

I liked the vampire questline and the return to Morrowind was okay, but the problem with Skyrim was the lack of consequence. There is almost no point in the quests. After I realized this, I started messing around with the mods and then quit playing. Though, I did spend 300 hrs. on modded content, but this is telling of how bad the game kind of is.

If DD was the size or close to the size of Skyrim, It would have been the primer fantasy game back then. I hope they up the size with DD2.

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

thorstein88d ago

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

shinoff218388d ago

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.
