"Considering how many games have been cancelled this year already, or others such as Prey 2 that have been pushed back into 2013, we have to wonder where some of the games announced at last year’s E3 are at. As I was shopping for some used games a few days ago and re-bought Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway, Gearbox’s “upcoming” title Brothers in Arms Furious 4 came to mind. Since last year’s E3 reveal trailer (see below), we haven’t had a single detail drop on the game, aside from a mini-preview in a Gameinformer issue released soon after E3." (Nick Calandra, OnlysP)
Producer Randy Varnell said the canceled Furious 4 was 'tremendously good'. He then added Gearbox would love to do something else for Brothers in Arms.
I for one would welcome a new Brothers in Arms, but hopefully it wouldn't be Ubisofted into a microtransactions extravaganza. If the game doesn't take place in WW2 anymore I'd enjoy seeing a modern day one where China is the enemy. China is the most dangerous country to America and what they have been doing to their own people, Hong Kong and Taiwan, it is time someone shows just how dangerous the Chinese government is. I personally feel sorry for the Chinese citizens, because the way the government abuses their people and it is about time a company is brave enough to show the truth, because it in a game or movie.
I used to love BiA was my favorite WW2 franchise back on Xbox, it was so much more grounded and the characters were very compelling.
"Furious 4 Was Tremendously Good",....look so good we cancel it!What a BS talk from this Fellow!
I worked on that trailer. I did the graphical animations/treatments as each character was introduced (inspired by the movie snatch). My office mate directed it.
From GameWatcher: "During a Polygon podcast, Gearbox head Randy Pitchford revealed some interesting facts about their upcoming team shooter Battleborn, which will be a full priced game with 25 heroes from 5 factions to pick from.
For starters, Battleborn is by far the studio's biggest investment in its history. Pitchford stated that more resources have gone into the game than Borderlands 1 and 2 combined. Of the 300 staff at Gearbox, roughly 80% of them have been allocated to work on the shooter.
They really should have invested in a borderland 3, with a more mmo style to it, and some pvp. I was a Tester for Battleborn, and the game felt really weak, I think Paragon(By Epic) will beat it with ease.
Well then I think we're about to see Gearbox go under, sadly. Regardless, I would imagine Borderlands will be snapped up by someone relatively quickly if it happens, so don't be too disheartened.
I fail to see how developers and publishers have yet to grasp the idea that unless you are the first established game of the "phenomenon", you won't get a look in. Being a "me too" game will net you very little for your efforts. It is almost exclusively true for online and competitive games. DOTA and LOL have success because they directly inherit from DOTA (same creators), the original, unlicensed IP. No MMO has come close to WoW, despite repeated, idiotic attempts at replicating its success by cloning it. COD reigns supreme yet still as the de facto modern military twitch shooter, despite more missteps than a dancing hobo, and despite the entire last generation having apparently been made in its image. Seriously, if imitation is the highest form of flattery, the above games and its developers must be more flattered than Jesus Christ on Christmas day.
It doesn't matter if the game you made is better, prettier or has the marketing might of Disney behind it, you weren't the one to capture lightning in a bottle. You can go hang out at a Faraday Cage with as many bottles as you want, it's not going to be the lightning. If you really want that, go be creative and keep evolving your ideas until something catches on.
5 games that are still in development or might actually be in development hell
Devil's Third looks amazing. I have been looking forward to it since that E3 back in 2010. If it does release this year it will be a day one buy for me. Although I would obviously see how things have changed in the past 4 years before buying. Maybe we will see it at E3 this year.
As for the other games none of them really grab my attention and I hadn't even heard of some of them.
One game I expected to be on the list that wasn't was Sacreligium. That game has been lost in development but had a lot of potential to be a great game
I keep wondering if we're ever going to see a Black & White 3. Not that it was ever said that there would be, but it's one of those series that I feel the potential was never fully realized.
"Devil's Third"
As already announced, we'll finally reveal "Devil's Third" this year!
You can see that we've upgraded our title logo.
I wanted to go for the metallic feeling of the Breitling that I love so much.
But I don't really wanna tell you exactly why, sorry;D https://www.facebook.com/to...
Wow, I totally forgot about this game, Yeah I haven't seen or heard about it in a while.
I hope its scrapped and replaced with a real BIA title
Oh god i forgot about this. I think it could either be scrapped due to a bad response from fans of the franchise or that its just not been shown since being announced. Either way with E3 coming soon, we may get an answer.
I would rather have Borderlands 2 and Aliens: Colonial Marine... Not too mention being a huge fan of the Brothers and Arms series I was A) not thrilled by what they did with the franchise in Brothers in Arms: HellsHighway (MP most notably) and B) I was completely put off by the trailer for Furious 4, it had Brothers in Arms in the title but felt nothing like a Brothers in Arms game.
I think Ubisoft just announced it so people know about it. They said 2012, but they did not mean that. Probably late 2013 or 2014. However, I hope it is scraped and replaced with a "real" BIA title, but with Ubisoft in charge of the BIA property, Gearbox will have to do as they say and it will stay casual and noobified.
