Gamers Xtreme (Glacier928): "Deadliest Warrior: Ancient Combat is one of those games that makes you wonder why you’re not playing a different fighting game instead. It insults you by providing a lack of depth, poor visuals and audio, and shallow gameplay mechanics. It may provide some fun for a very limited amount of time but at the asking price of $29.99, I’d say you should just spend a little extra cash on a more polished/visceral fighting game like Mortal Kombat. If you really have an interest in either one of these two games, then download the demos via PSN/XBLA to get an idea of what the game is like. After that, just steer clear of this compilation because the demo is basically what the whole game is like. Unless you’re a die-hard Deadliest Warrior fan and need to see the exclusive episodes packed on the disc, there’s nothing worth the asking price here."
Zach Murphy writes: 'The Deadliest Warrior TV series was fantastic television between 2009 and 2011. The series pitted warriors from a variety of eras against each other in an in-depth simulated battle.'.
Neocrisis: Ever thought of who would win in a fight if a Nordic viking was going against a Napoleon solider? or a Ninja vs a sword swinging samurai? Well wonder no more as Deadliest Warrior: Ancient Combat provides the answers (or at least tries to).
I played the first Deadliest Warrior game once. I was a Samurai and my friend was a Spartan. Match starts. He pushes circle. His Spartan chucks a spear at me and it magically hits me in the head, killing me instantly.
He then told me that it's random if the spear is going to go towards my head or not. So by chance, he killed me with a push of a button.
Screw this game.
Examiner:
Gamers can have a pretty easy time being very selective with their games. When you study reviews, play demos and generally pay attention to trends you can easily avoid some of the worst games that come out. We always pay attention to what games score and sell the highest, but what about the games that (critically) perform the worst? We dove into the deep zone and managed to dig up the five worst scoring games of 2012… So far.
This game was made for the purpose of simulating being realistic hence the TV show. So comparing it to Mortal Kombat is stupid.
