GamesRadar writes: "After experimenting with the relatively simple Game & Watch titles in the early 1980s, Nintendo was ready to have the kind of success it had with the NES on a portable. By marrying the tech of the NES with design aspects of G&W, Nintendo’s R&D1 team created the Game Boy. It took the D-pad and button layout of the NES controller, placed that just below a 2.6 inch green screen, and gave the system interchangeable cartridges like a NES. After launching it with the killer app Tetris, it reached a level of success even Nintendo probably never dreamed of."
